Besides Dell, where else (online) to buy a new CPU?

Ok, I've decided to replace my PC with a new one.

Besides Dell, what are some good online sources for a new computer? I'm mainly looking for a good deal on a somewhat customizable CPU.

FWIW, I mostly use it to get online (I've got a cable modem), download and listen to music, mess around with my digital camera and possibly a digital camcorder at some point, and play games like Sims, etc.

www.gateway.com
www.alienware.com

alien is a little more expensive, and you probably won't need that type of system for what you are doing.

I would probably go with Dell, and then Gateway second I guess. It's tough to beat their prices and customer service. I'm sure you'll find different opinions about Gateway and Dell, because different people have vastly different experiences with them.

I would say just to stick with Dell if you aren't inclined to really customizing your comp with parts from sites like www.mwave.com or www.newegg.com

I think it is a good company. They have really fast computers. But if you want a good computer at a really low prices why don't you just build it yourself. Back in the day (2 years ago) my compute would of cost me $900 but instead I only spent $300 and I gogt the following

Intel Celoron Processor @ 900 Mhz
Samsumg DVD-Rom
LiteOn 32x12x40 CD Burner.
256 Mb PC 133 SDRAM
Intergraded sound and video.
15" Aopen Monitor
Some two set speakers (for 8 dollars they are pretty good)
1 year of parts (and I do my own labor.)
HP Keyboard
Microsoft Mouse
Silver ATX Case
Intergrated 10\100 Network card

Back in the day this use to be a sexy ass system (im gonna get upgrades though)

and I think I might do just that. buy all of the parts on the net and then have a buddy of mine put it together for me....

I bought two computers (and soon a third) from avapc.com they have a configurator and select what you want in it and they build, test and then ship it to you. They've been great to me.
