Best private usenet service?

Does anybody have any experiences with usenet-for-hire servers? Reliability and completeness of posts are a concern, cost isn't that big a deal.

Thanks!

www.easynews.com

A very very reliable, inexpensive and full featured service. I have been a member for about 3 years and have no complaints. Top Notch.

Nope it has a 6gb (or there abouts) limit per month on what you can download. When you exceed that, it prompts you to purchase more if you want to. It used to not have download limits and people took advantage of it. People would set automatic newsgrabbers to grab everything downloading 100's of gb a day.. they had to put a cap on it and I don't blame them. I've never even come close to reaching my 6gb limit.

What advantages do the newsgroups have over something like Morpheus/Gnutella? I haven't looked on them for files and such since 93, so I'm a little out of date.

So do I. I made the mistake of telling my GF and mother that if they missed a show, I could download it for them. Well, it turned out to be a big pain in the ass.

I try to reach my limit each month, although I think I came up short this month, I was downloading whatever crap I could find last night. (Today was billing day). That 6 gig limit is somewhat loose, I've been able to get over 7.5 with a little creativity.

I use www.newsfeeds.com and it works very well. They have dedicated news servers for mp3, movies, software, etc... With all the news servers combined I can download around 8-10gig per day. The file retention is great.

It's $145 for a years subscription.

They also have an unlimited subscription with no download limits but it's $40 a month.

Verizon's servers aren't bad if you catch what you want early enough. I've thought about one of the pay services, but they're too expensive for the volume I'd consume. Some months I'll hardly even touch newsgroups. Other months I'll grab 1.5 GB/day. I do most of my big downloading off of IRC though. Since I have no UPN station, I'd never see Enterprise if not for IRC.

It's not really difficult, just don't log out, leave their website or close your browser after you have passed your limit. Just keep adding stuff to your queue.
