Depends on how much you want and how fast you want it. The difference between each two of the same size is that one is CL2 and one is CL3. CL2 is slightly faster then CL3. (this is a latency issue for the memory) The cost is only a couple dollars, so getting the CL2 would be a good idea.

Thank you very much. YOu'll have to understand I'm pretty much an F'N moron when it comes to PCs.

The other thing to add in is that if you have CL3 memory already, and you add in CL2, you go as fast as your slowest memory, which would be CL3.
I think there are programs to help you figure out what type of RAM you currently have, but if you just order the CL2 you're fine in either case of having CL3 or CL2.

If you do nothing reall intensive with your pc, you probably won't even notice the difference between CL2 and CL3 ram... besides, Crucial is mucho expensive ram, I can get the same amount of ram in Canada for a lower price by around 20-25% even if it's CAS 3 ram, I won't notice a difference unless I run benchmarks.
[Edited since Crucial changed it's price] |

if you have some great source however. post away I am always willing to check out a deal ![]() I agree most people will not see any difference between cas 2 or cas 3 ram. Buy the cas 3 unless the price is very close.

Need more RAM for DELL P3 450 mhz
Need more RAM for DELL P3 450 mhz
I have 128 MB RAM currently. I would like to double or triple it. Will I notice any differences?? I am going to stsrt using DV with my new firewire card extensively, so that is the main purpose of the question. Any ideas? |

as cheap as ram is and your need for a lot of memory due to your use. I would add 256MB more.
