What streaming services have you canceled?

Canceled:
CBS All-Access (too many commericals, Perry Mason missing episodes)
Warner Archive(overall poor selection)
XM/Sirius Internet Only (too expensive)

On the bubble:
Full Moon Streaming(I would like too keep a Horror movie only pay service until something better comes along)

Re: What streaming services have you canceled?

SlingTV... twice. Too many technical issues. They still can't get it working properly during peak hours.

Re: What streaming services have you canceled?

I tried CBS All Access for a free trial month and cancelled due to the commercials. They really need a commercial free option.

Re: What streaming services have you canceled?

CBS All Access- commercials, no 5.1 sound and video at wrong frame rate. (Positives were you could watch shows with no logo bugs and full end credits.)

Hulu- Even with the commercial-free option, it overlays network logo bugs on the picture (ABC and Fox shows use the logos of local affiliates)- unacceptable. Also no 5.1 audio, and video material at wrong frame rate.

Sling TV- Where do I begin with this? It reminded me why I haven't had cable in decades. Wall-to-wall commercials and paid programming, logo bugs on just about every channel, movies edited-for-TV versions, and while ESPN and its sister channels were at the right frame rate the first time I tried it, they weren't the 2nd time and none of the others were either, and of course no 5.1 audio. (CNN was the only channel on it that I MIGHT have actually watched, but it was at the wrong frame rate and no way in HELL would I pay for the amount of commercials they showed! There's plenty of free news on the Roku already.)

WWE Network- Only tried this cause of the free trial and wanted to see how the quality was, not really into wrestling. No 5.1 audio and wrong frame rate- would've at least checked out the classic stuff if it were at the right frame rate.

Showtime- No 5.1 audio on anything, intermittent logo bug on main live channel.

Amazon Prime- Pop-up menu came up at end credits of movies- they have since fixed that, I may re-subscribe now. (The free shipping doesn't mean as much for me as the video access; I'm already leeching off my parents' Netflix subscription and using an older Roku with the non-intrusive interface on that.)

VideoBox (porn service): All titles broken up into scenes, no way to watch an entire movie or video complete and uninterrupted. (I do subscribe to Sugar Instant which has been nearly perfect.) Dumped a number of other porn services that were pay-by-minute and ridiculously expensive to watch an entire video start to finish.

Been meaning to try Warner Archive and ExploitationTV when I have time to seriously watch them for along period of time- seems Warner Archive won't be around after that new service with Criterion and Turner Classic Movies starts up.

I tried Playstation Vue and canceled before the trial ended. Really great service, but a little expensive for me.

Re: What streaming services have you canceled?

Sling TV - twice also. I re-subbed so I could watch Banshee, thinking surely they couldn't have survived a year being that terrible. But they have. Luckily Banshee sucks this year too & I have no need to pay $20 to watch commercials, so it's gone for good this time.

Showtime online - mostly because I just can't find anything to watch after Shameless ended.

CBS All Access - Because I forgot that CBS is mostly murder solving procedurals. Might pick back up for the upcoming Big Brother season if the cast is interesting enough to watch on the live streams.

on the bubble:

Hulu - I like some of their original programming, but there's just not enough of it. And I really like the commercial free option. So I like to support their decision to offer it as an option.

Slacker Radio - it's only $4 for a commercial free version, but their bumpers really annoy me. I went in & actively selected this app, this particular station. I don't need a reminder of what I'm listening to every 5-6 songs.

Re: What streaming services have you canceled?

I canceled Netflix when they first started charging for the streaming service because I didn't like the selection. My kid wanted it for college last fall, though, so now I'm sharing the account.

I was on Hulu Plus for a while, but I didn't have time to explore it so I canceled. I still have cable and Prime.

You might be watching porn wrong.

Re: What streaming services have you canceled?

I had Sling TV, canceled it after trying Vue. Canceling Vue now that I have (reluctantly) cable again due to a package deal with AT&T Fiber.

I also had a Slacker Radio subscription years ago that went away when Spotify came to the US.

I'm actively subscribed to Netflix, Hulu, Spotify and Audible.

Re: What streaming services have you canceled?

Full Moon Streaming - I don't like that only 1 device can be activated. Not one stream, ONE DEVICE. That's ridiculous. Also, a lot of their movies have bad video encodes (wrong AR, non-anamorphic, etc).

WWE Network - I usually only watch the PPV events. When I don't like the line-up, I often cancel for a month or two. Plus it's depressing watching the old shows. It just reminds me that wrestling has been lousy for the past 15+ years.

CONtv - I subscribed to watch the convention coverage. But they only livestream the convention panels. They didn't archive them for later viewing. So unless I was sitting at home to watch it live, I'd miss them.

Re: What streaming services have you canceled?

SlingTV because of it running like garbage.

Playstation Vue I'll just keep around during the NBA playoffs. It's a great service I just have zero need for it besides NBA games.

I had Full Moon Streaming for 3 months when it originally launched. Got the free DVDs/BDs that came with the offer.

However, as you said, stupid that they only allow 1 device activated. Also, I realized I wasn't going to make the most of the service. The Full Moon movies were fun and hokey back in the day, but how often was I going to watch them on a regular basis?

Shudder and Screambox are the 2 horror streaming services available right now with uncut and commercial free movies.

They both have Roku channels.

I recommend Shudder. They're pretty awesome. A great selection of movies. Much better than Screambox which is filled with z-grade junk.

Re: What streaming services have you canceled?

I cancelled the WWE Network. It's fun to go back and watch some of the old content from time to time but I don't watch wrestling enough anymore to justify $10 a month for it. I could also easily go without Netflix. Their original shows are about the only reason I have it but I don't find myself watching it a ton and there's a lot of things on there I would think they'd have that they don't which is semi irritating (not necessarily obscure things either but mainstream films and shows). I also have Amazon Prime but only because it's just part of the membership. If it was a separate thing I wouldn't pay for it as I never use it.

Re: What streaming services have you canceled?

Trying Spectrum's new Stream TV. Bundled with my Internet, it comes out to $15 a month for this service. Includes six different HBO channels, about 50 channels total. So far, it seems pretty nice and stable. And they are also sending me a free Roku 3, so not a bad deal.

Re: What streaming services have you canceled?

Cancelling Vue because I'm getting an XBox
WWE Network, because I can watch wrestling on Hulu
UFC Fight Pass: FS1 and 2 have plenty of UFC.

Re: What streaming services have you canceled?

I cancelled SiriusXM's listen online....wasn't worth it for me...and I'll probably end up cancelling 1 of my 2 in car radios soon. May resubscribe once they offer me a re-subscribe deal.

Charter Spectrum Streaming: $20 a month....with HBO and all local channels. Sounds great...but the tax alone was $10 a month. So $20 turns into $30. No thanks.

I had it for 6 weeks and watched maybe 45 minutes of stuff....all the extra channels had commercials (which I loathe) and on HBO I already own 80% or more of the movies on there.

Re: What streaming services have you canceled?

Since I subscribe to Charter Cable-Charter Spectrum Streaming is Free. Last time I counted ,I was getting 116 channels. So far no local channels.

It will be interesting too see what Direct TV is going too offer as far as a new streaming channel is concerned.

Re: What streaming services have you canceled?

It seems that Hulu and Netflix are the only two I can stick with. I also have Amazon Prime, but that is more for the music streaming and free shipping.

Did Warner Archive for a year, but the quality of the streaming movies did not improve enough and I cancelled. They have so many great movies on DVD they never have offered for streaming.

Tried SlingTV and cancelled. Too many garbage channels from Scripps, with nothing but horrible reality shows.

Cancelled WWE Network after a year. Their original programs didn't interest me and outside of NXT which I can watch on Hulu there wasn't much worth the monthly price.

I did a month of Playstation Vue and the quality of channels is much better and the DVR service was very good, but 30 a month is just too much. It was worth it for the NBA playoffs, but with those winding down I will cancel.

Re: What streaming services have you canceled?

I cancelled Hulu several years back...I barely can carve out time on weekends to do some netflix bingeing, so while I miss being able to watch The Mindy Project, it was not cost effective to keep the service. That reminds me, it is a music streaming service, but I need to cancel Pandora...ever since I went with Google Music for 7.99 a month I stopped using Pandora...they must love me, their data usage stats on me for who knows how long will show I am paying to listen to 0 minutes of music a month.

Re: What streaming services have you canceled?

PS Vue was fine when I had it, but I only paid $29.99 for it. The Cloud DVR was a really nice function.
