Re: AT&T to offer Directv as streaming service in 2016

I'm disappointed in the amount of network apps that allow Directv NOW credentials to sign in.

Only the ABC-DISNEY-ESPN network apps so far.

QUOTE:
-----------------------------

Can I use my DIRECTV NOW account to sign in to network sites and apps?

Yes, DIRECTV NOW subscribers can use their account username and password to access the following network websites and their respective apps:

ABC
Disney
Disney Jr.
Disney XD
ESPN (WatchESPN)
Freeform (formerly ABC Family)

HBO GO (requires premium bolt-on subscription to HBO)
MAX GO (requires premium bolt-on subscription to Cinemax)

Note: First time visitors may be prompted to fill out a profile for the site. Subscribers should select
DIRECTV NOW from the list of providers and authenticate by using their DIRECTV NOW account credentials.

Re: AT&T to offer Directv as streaming service in 2016

I signed up for this primarily for the on demand content. And forgot how wildly inconsistent DirecTV is with this. I'm halfway through season 2 of Kingdom when the show just disappears from the library. In fact, all the Audience Network content is gone after only 3 weeks. And probably not a glitch since it's been several days.

Ok, so I'll catch this buzzed about show that aired on TBS last week called Search Party. TBS aired all 10 episodes in a week as sort of a binge experiment. Guess what? Directv Now only has episodes 7-10 on demand. I could understand maybe episodes 1-4, but why the last 4 episodes only?

I don't use them for HBO, but read in another review that Westworld was inexplicably missing episode 5.

So I'm out, goodbye DirecTV Now.

Re: AT&T to offer Directv as streaming service in 2016

I tried watching an NBA game(San Antonio/Houston) on NBA TV and it didn't work. I cant remember watching an entire show of anything without having problems.

The On-Demand is a joke (Direct TV and Direct TV Now). It will get better but finding things too watch is the main problem.

When I couldn't watch the NBA game I switched over to Spectrum Streaming Channel and it worked to perfection. Not really sure why their service isn't getting any ink while Direct TV is having nothing but problems and getting noticed doing it.

I pulled the trigger and got directvnow. It's not great, but I'm saving about $130 a month.

If you did the Apple deal, your three months have come up recently or are coming up very soon. I cancelled this morning after putting it off and I was about to be charged at 7p, cancelled right on time. Didn't use the service at all, just used it to get a $105 Apple TV.

Re: AT&T to offer Directv as streaming service in 2016

Lately,it hasn't been bad. Some of the channels were blank on the guide grid and couldn't access anything.

I haven't tried the On-demand in a long time. Nothing but freeze-ups at that time.

Re: AT&T to offer Directv as streaming service in 2016

My service is working pretty well. Went from freezing up hourly to weekly. They also just gave 12 months of free HBO. I'm still happy with my decision. Still desperately needs a DVR function, but for the cost, I'm happy.

Decided to get on the deal to get the new Apple TV. I have a third generation Apple TV that I think needs to be replaced.

So far so good with DirecTV Now. I put the app to stream at work most of the day, and it worked fine. Streaming from a Chrome tab to a TV com Chromecast integrated.

Re: AT&T to offer Directv as streaming service in 2016

I pulled the trigger on DirectTV Now today after receiving a text from AT&T stating that HBO would be included for free, since we are on their Unlimited Plus data plan. An extra added bonus was getting $25 off a month, so I decided to upgrade to the 120 channel package, with Cinemax, and only pay $45 after the free trial. So far no picture problems. Might miss the DVR feature, but as of now, I am thinking of dumping PlayStation Vue. Might still keep Sling TV, as I enjoy the On Demand sports programming and outdoor shows.

It's terrible.

No one knows what to do about it.

I figured out what to do about it a couple of years ago. And just laugh when I get their weekly 'offers' to come back for ONLY $19.99/mo. ( programming, equipment, fees, and taxes not included)

This is why I prefer streaming. It's much more difficult to hide behind the cloud of b.s., especially when someone can cancel at anytime.

According to CNet-Direct TV Now is available on Roku.

I've got 6 Roku players and not one of them will work with Directv Now.

Says it'll work with my Roku 3, which I've had for 4 years now, weird anything after that wouldn't be compatible.

Thanks for the info.

Detroit is on the list of 14 cities.

I am still waiting for NBC. It might be available elsewhere.

Just got ABC recently.

Also read at another website that CBS is planning a 24 hour sports streaming service. No thanks. They don't have enough good programming for CBS Sports Network so a 24 hour streaming channel sounds like an extension of crappy programming.

Re: AT&T to offer Directv as streaming service in 2016

Due to unexpected expenses, I had to let direct tv now go. I'll miss some of the channels, but between slingtv and vue, I can keep most of what I watch. Too bad sling got rid of El Rey Network though.

DirecTV Now is supposedly getting NFL Network and NFL Network Red Zone

Weird that they would add a competitor for this if true.

I hope that their NFL Network show's live game's because I was watching Spectrum Streaming Channel last week and they had other programming rather than a live game.

I got the 100 channels for 35 dollar package when it first came out so if they start charging extra for these additional channels,no thanks.

It would be the same NFL Network that's on channel 212 on regular DirecTV.

But, this is only a rumor apparently.

NFL Network is showing Live preseason games right now taking local feeds from the various teams. Once the regular season starts, they will only show games on Thursday Nights and through Red Zone. Red Zone would likely be an extra cost like Sunday Ticket.

I don't know what you mean by not showing live games on Spectrum streaming?

I wanted to watch Denver/Bears on NFL Network(Spectrum Streaming) and they had alternate programming.

Also no Falcons/Steelers(Spectrum Streaming).

Re: AT&T to offer Directv as streaming service in 2016

Doing the 30-day free trial of this now, already feel lobotomized by it in just a few days. They DID at least get the frame rate right on all the HD channels, but there's a bit of 'hiccuping' every few seconds using the Fire TV Stick (none of my Rokus even support it, even though Roku sponsored the extended trial). Still no 5.1 audio except on the Olympics Channel. My local CBS and Fox stations are on it, but only with 2-channel sound and more compressed picture than what I get over the air. (CBS All Access also carries the local CBS station but at the wrong frame rate last time I checked.) Movie channels crop all 2.35 movies to 1.78 so that's a deal-breaker right there. Still a step in the right direction as far as delivering video over the internet, picture is a huge improvement but the main technical problem is the hiccuping which causes about a half-second pause randomly. Tried to watch CNN and it drove me nuts.
