Re: Amazon Fire TV Stick

I give them credit for listing the omission of HBO Go. I'm sure it's one of the most popular apps, and their Prime video service is very visibly associated with HBO, so might as well put it out there and save a million calls to CS.

The power thing is kind of annoying because power outlets aren't always within range of the HDMI port. I guess that's the drawback to being "powerful."

Re: Amazon Fire TV Stick

I picked one up. Nothing can replace the Roku 3, but this will work great for a bedroom device. No Vudu, HBOgo and Warner Archive is a bummer but hopefully they get added.

That's exactly why I think they listed it, too.

Do people think I should cancel my order of one so I can make a new order of two or will I end up out of luck completely?

I think you'll be fine, but looking at it, it may not ship until Xmas.

Re: Amazon Fire TV Stick

The real question is will it have a Starz Play app?

I looked at the list of apps and I didn't see Starz Play listed.

Re: Amazon Fire TV Stick

Starz Play is available for the Kindle Fire so it should be available for the Kindle Fire stick. Same with the WWE app, which isn't listed but is available for the Kindle Fire.

Re: Amazon Fire TV Stick

Gave it a shot. I have been on the fence about purchasing a Roku for a while now, but always hesitate to pull the trigger. For $20, it's pretty much a no brainer. Estimated delivery date for me is January 5th.

Re: Amazon Fire TV Stick

Every hotel I've been to recently has blocked off the TV USB ports to block people using these sort of devices.

I just stayed at a couple Comfort Inn and Holiday Inn Express last month, and didn't notice that on any of the TVs. But it doesn't matter with this device since it's not USB-powered.

I did run into a different problem though. In one hotel room the TV was positioned so that you couldn't get behind to access the main HDMI port. You could plug into the secondary HDMI port on the side of the TV. But they used a custom remote that didn't have a way to change Inputs. Luckily I had a Samsung Galaxy Tab with an IR Blaster. I downloaded a Universal Remote app and used that to change the inputs.

I've had that happen too. I didn't think of your universal remote idea... that was brilliant.

Re: Amazon Fire TV Stick

I always take my iphone->HDMI adapter to hook my phone to the hotel tv for netflix. Almost all the time the "input" button on the remote doesnt work but the one on the tv (or by going through the menus) works
