Today only as well. What's so special about today that they're wanting us to buy everything all at once?

P.S. : I ended up buying Korra

Well, the Heroine sale is presumably in honor of International Women's Day.

Yep, and I chickened out so to speak. Ended up not buying a single thing. I think it was the whole fact I've never spent over $10 for a single tv season. It's hard being a cheapskate, lol.

Re: The VUDU Thread - News, Bargains & UV Codes

I have 3 UV codes that I tried selling to no takers, so I started to redeem them.

I tried redeeming King Kong, Chappie and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon today and I keep getting a

"Code not valid" error

Has anyone had this problem?

I later tried redeeming King Kong through the Universal site on the instructions and it worked and transferred to Vudu. However, I can't do it through Vudu.

Sometimes it takes a few hours to cross pollinate into all the UV sites.

Re: The VUDU Thread - News, Bargains & UV Codes

My redemption of CTHD didn't go through. I called Sony after about a week, and they fixed it. I think there are technical issues with UV right now.

That's not really what I was asking.

As I said, the codes I tried to redeem said they were "Invalid" while redeeming through Vudu even though I have never used them.

I was only able to redeem King Kong because I went through the Universal UV redemption website instead. Vudu said the code was invalid even though I entered it 3-4 different times.

Ha, my list is completely different.

About Adam (HDX) - $2.99 (for the wifey)
Jekyll Season 1 (SD) - $4.99
Matador (HDX) - $3.99
Some Kind of Beautiful (HDX) - $4.99 (also for the wifey)
Tudors Bundle (HDX) - $19.19 (a steal for all 4 seasons)

Haven't pulled the trigger just yet, but this is the short list.

Edit: Ending up only getting About Adam for my wife and the Tudors bundle for myself (and probably wife will watch it too..she does love a good soap opera). The others didn't hold the appeal I was wishing for.

Sorry, I misread your last line as not being able to play it thru Vudu.

But I've also had wonky redemptions, where codes are supposed to be able to be redeemed on a specific site, will instead redeem only thru one of the other sites.

Re: The VUDU Thread - News, Bargains & UV Codes

So many in that sale I'm interested in :
In the Name of the Father
Secret of the Kells
In Bruges
The Lobster
Far and Away (yeah, it's not great, but it's cute and shows the OK land rush that my kids have read about)
Match Point (the least Woody Allen movie ever. I loved it when I saw it on cable)

The Irish Sale: Picked up:

Veronica Guerin: Always at $18 or something...finally came down for this sale
Far and Away: D2D wouldn't recognize my DVD so the cost was a bit more but still not a bad deal at $6.99. Watching it now.

Re: The VUDU Thread - News, Bargains & UV Codes

The Missing tv series is $7.49. Checked and saw very good reviews at metacritic. It was also compared to the game Heavy Rain' which I really liked, so blind Buy for me on this series.

Re: The VUDU Thread - News, Bargains & UV Codes

Vudu's Disc-to-Digital is now available using a smartphone. Scan the barcode on the BD/DVD case using your phone's camera. According to the article, your first conversion is FREE for trying it out.

So...what would prevent me from waking into Best Buy and scanning everything?

According to the official site, it requires GPS. So it probably won't work in stores. Maybe it'll require you to register a home address?

Re: The VUDU Thread - News, Bargains & UV Codes

It looks like it's being added to the Vudu app on iOS and Android, and should be available in the iTunes Store and Google Play:
http://www.vudu.com/in_mobile_disc_to_digital.html

However, I just downloaded the app, and I don't see the "Disc to Digital" option.

Also, none of the news mentions the "convert 10 and get half off" deal.

Edit: and the big kicker: "Convert up to 100 discs a year."

Edit2: I'm trying it from work, so I'll see if the option appears when I'm at home.

Re: The VUDU Thread - News, Bargains & UV Codes

Customers must be physically located at their home billing address in order for the disc-to-digital conversion to work from their phones. That’s an anti-fraud measure designed to ensure someone actually owns the DVD — and is not, say, running willy-nilly through the aisles of a Walmart store scanning bar codes. Vudu’s app uses GPS to verify a user’s location and make sure it matches the address on file. In addition, the mobile-conversion feature will be capped at 100 titles per year for each account.

Re: The VUDU Thread - News, Bargains & UV Codes

The article actually doesn't mention the app being used, although that seems like a logical assumption. I guess now either they haven't updated it yet or it's a browser option only at this time, which is dumb. I doubt I'll ever use it, especially if we don't get that $1/disc for more than 10. I hope they keep that option for computer only.

Yeah, so this will require you purchase and then return unopened the movies if you want to scam them.

However, anyone in NYC who lives above a Best Buy just got 100 cheap digital copies.

I live next door to a Walmart that's almost built. I have a feeling depending on where the media section is (like the back of the building), it would classify as the same place if I wanted to try this trick. (That would be the old teenager hacker wannabe in me by the way). But seriously, what's to keep me from taking a picture and scanning that picture when I get home? Sites with barcodes are going to pop up all over.

Mobile List @ Google Docs

Even though it is capped at 100, expect people to abuse it like hell (multiple accounts if nothing else). Honestly, I looked over the list yesterday and found only about 30-40 from my current collection that I would want converted and I'm going to try and do the standard in home-D2D first (which hopefully will be still discounted) before going this route. That's mostly because I've done probably in the line of 200+ D2D and pretty much have converted everything I care to (or can). I like that they are trying something new, but I'm not sure they thought it thru.
