Re: New and Noteworthy VOD (iTunes/Amazon/Vudu/etc;) Titles Thread

Joe Carnahan's Stretch was released today on the usual sites (iTunes, etc; )

Stars: Patrick Wilson, Jessica Alba, Brooklyn Decker, Ray Liotta, Chris Pine, Ed Helms, Randy Couture, and Norman Reedus.

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/RFMFk5m_jS0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

This movie is now most famous for the awkward behind the scenes sex scene that has been all over the place this week. It looks like Carnahan's answer to Cosmopolis.

Horns is now available on the streaming sites. This one looks kinda fun.

I thought Horns was already out -- saw it at a local festival a little while back -- it was pretty entertaining but a bit too long. So actually it's ideal home viewing. Fun seeing Alexandre Aja branch out a little bit. Earth to Echo was the "big" release this week for iTunes/Amazon/etc;

The Town that Dreaded Sundown (2014) is now available. Produced by Ryan Murphy and with a lot of his American Horror Story crew, if you've seen the first two seasons of that show, you know what to expect (nicely shot, a little scatter brained, and lot of odd).

Housebound - Kiwi Horror/Comedy that is basically a "haunted house" version of Shaun of the Dead (zombies) and Dale and Tucker (slasher/monster flick). Not as good as the former, a bit better than the latter.

<object width="560" height="315"><param name="movie" value="//www.youtube.com/v/vX0DsoiXIho?hl=en_US&version=3"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="//www.youtube.com/v/vX0DsoiXIho?hl=en_US&version=3" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="560" height="315" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object>

The One I Love - A very low budget romantic comedy sci-fi (? I guess) with Elizabeth Moss and Mark Duplass. A rather entertaining first feature for its director.

<object width="560" height="315"><param name="movie" value="//www.youtube.com/v/jCOvhojlZzQ?hl=en_US&version=3"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="//www.youtube.com/v/jCOvhojlZzQ?hl=en_US&version=3" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="560" height="315" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object>

This is only $9.99 (HDX) at Vudu right now. I don't know if that's a glitch or a sale price. It was a lot more expensive when I looked at it two days ago.

V/H/S: Viral is now available on VOD sites. This is the 3rd installment in the V/H/S series. I wasn't crazy about the first one, but the 2nd was pretty good. This one looks kinda cheesy.

<iframe width="640" height="360" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/2cFewDDEP_M" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

V/H/S 1 & 2 are on sale in a bundle at Vudu for $14.99 (HDX). That's a great price. They're normally $13 & $23 each. Or you could just watch them at Netflix.

Stonehearst Asylum is now on the VOD sites. It's the latest movie from Brad Anderson (Session 9). The cast is pretty good with Ben Kingsley, Kate Beckinsale, Michael Caine, Jim Sturgess and David Thewlis.

I'm not going to post the trailer, because it gives away the entire movie including plot twists and scenes from the climax. But if you want to watch it, here's the link:

The Voices (2015) was released today for Rent (starting at $6.99) on the usual sources. It's about a serial killer and his talking pets. Unusual looking movie with a solid cast. Dexter Doolittle, or something. Starring: Ryan Reynolds, Gemma Arterton, Anna Kendrick, Jacki Weaver, from director Marjane Satrapi, who directed Persepolis and Chicken with Plums.

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/5IaPaB4Pzqk" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

I should just rename this thread "Coming soon to Netflix."

Thanks for the heads up. I just grabbed The Final Girls. I've been looking forward to that for a while. I'm surprised that it was available for purchase and not just for rental.

I'll probably be picking that up this evening as well. I'm kind of surprised that it's a Day and Date VOD considering how much coverage it's been getting (especially in critical channels) lately.
