Cool. I'll get my fill of The Avengers over the next month. Haven't watched it since theaters.

Oh! I was expecting Diana Rigg in a leather catsuit. You're talking about YOUR generation's Avengers, aren't you?

That pisses me off. I know The Avengers is a big movie and all but I also know Netflix wasted an ungodly amount of money to bring it to their service during the premium run window. Though I guess this part of the Disney deal as I see a lot of Disney features on there now (Mulan, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Mulan 2, Atlantis: Milo's Return, The Hunchback of Norte Dame II, Hercules, Thor, etc; )
On the bright side, it's currently getting beat by Who Framed Roger Rabbit in terms of populairty on Netflix.
Some other newer releases I saw on there:
Upstream Color
A Late Quartet
Katy Perry: Party of Me
John Hodgman: Ragnarok
Soldiers of Fortune
Straight As
Family Weekend
The ABCs of Death
Silent Hill: Revelation
Flypaper (bank heist movie with Patrick Dempsey, Ashley Judd)
Branded (the one about uh advertising?)
Atlas Shrugged Part II
Not Suitable for Children
Super (which I think was on there before and just returned)
Overall, some pretty good new material for Netflix.
I do recommend Super if you've never seen it, just a really bizarre, different, brutal and dark movie.

From Movies.com
FILM
Avail 6/17
The Bay (2012) – Horror
Nansi Aluka, Christopher Denham, Stephen Kunken, Frank Deal, Kether Donohue, Kristen Connolly
From director Barry Levinson comes this gruesome tale of ecological horror that follows unfolding events in a seaside Maryland town as a deadly menace infests the bay and turns residents into hosts for mutant parasites.

Edit: it's on Amazon Prime. I'll watch it there.

The Avengers is actually part of the Epix deal which Amazon Prime also has in their streaming service.

Aaaaannd they took down all but the first two seasons of The Twilight Zone. Why, Netflix, why? I finally had something watch on my half hour breaks since the wifi at work doesn't seem to block Netflix like it does everything else. It's a conspiracy! Surely it must be. The world revolves around me after all, it can't be because their license expired.

Re: The OFFICIAL Noteworthy New Arrivals to Netflix Thread
Is there any way to search what Netflix has before joining or at least a master list of what they have for streaming HD television? For me, the $8/month would really be about the value of having the ability to watch shows like New Girl, House and several others whenever I want to in HD.
I paid an outrageous amount for some tv content on Vudu, but I don't think I want to do that for House, 30 Rock, the last 4 season of Gilmore Girls and other shows that didn't get a blu release or that I don't like enough to purchase even if it did.
Thanks!

Instantwatcher.com is the best way to browse the Netflix streaming catalog. Here's the list of HD TV Shows:

No Seinfeld or Friends or Felicity or Newsradio or Northern Exposure, but they did have Family Ties and they claim to have Quantum Leap in HD, which was about the best thing I did find.
No Ed, or Freaks and Geeks or My So-Called Life.
I don't get why it's so difficult to get all these shows and let people stream them on one service. I thought Netflix was the biggest out there. A few of these shows can be seen on tv still. Looks like my dvds won't be going anywhere, anytime soon. Which is disappointing.

Looks like you missed some. Here's the pages:
Arrested Development - http://instantwatcher.com/titles/166101
Magnum P.I. - http://instantwatcher.com/titles/178762
Felicity - http://instantwatcher.com/titles/171285
Freaks and Geeks - http://instantwatcher.com/titles/183061
New Girl: Season 2 just ended. So it's not available for streaming until Season 3 starts in the Fall.
Has the show Ed ever been released on home video? I don't think any streaming service has that show.

So, do all of the shows just stream by episode or are we talking having discs sent in the mail? I really like the interface on Vudu, but I don't know if I'm willing to invest in the newer shows like House for the 1st 5 seasons in HDX or 30 Rock for all 7 seasons at nearly $50 per season. And, at the same time, I'd love to get rid shows like Felicity and be able to stream shows like Magnum or Quantum Leap that I never bought.
I'd pay more than $8/month to have access to a streaming service that had just about every show there was. Movies I'm more patient with anyway, but when my wife and I want to go on a Felicity Marathon or I want to watch the episode where Magnum needs to protect that spoiled, blonde tennis brat, I just want to be able to push a few buttons.
Amazon Prime doesn't have enough, but it's sure a lot simple to navigate and search. Now that I see they have all the seasons of Party of Five, I can sell off my old dvds for whatever and just stream the show every now and again.
Why can't one service offer this? I'm going to take their trial and see now. They have just enough for me to be interested, but do all their shows just stream or do you have to wait for discs to be sent or for the show to be available to stream? With Prime, again, I just press play and that's it. With Vudu it's just as simple, but very costly. Netflix seems a bit more challenging.
Thanks!

If you go with DVDs, then you have to wait for discs to be mailed. If you go with streaming, then you can watch all available episodes / seasons in sequential order via your streaming device.

Re: The OFFICIAL Noteworthy New Arrivals to Netflix Thread
It's worth noting that just because a streaming service has something now, that doesn't mean it'll still be there in the future. Out of the things you listed, at one point Netflix streaming did have Married with Children, Veronica Mars, and a few seasons of Newsradio. I'd expect the final season of 30 Rock to be up end of summer, close to when the next season theoretically would air. As for Quantum Leap don't get too excited, a ton of episodes are missing.

I was hoping the age of widescreen TVs would finally put an end to this nonsense, but instead of panning and scanning, they appear to just crop movies to 1.78 now! What the hell? Are people still scared of the dreaded "black bars?"
