Re: The OFFICIAL Noteworthy New Arrivals to Netflix Thread

Apparently, Cartoon Network has put up a whole bunch of stuff. Most exciting is that Samurai Jack is there now, though sadly, only the first season. Hopefully the rest are to follow shortly.

I can't figure out why Batman Beyond and JLU were there, but not BTAS or STAS. I would guess that it has something to do with CN, but BB was a WB show, so maybe not.

-sigh-

Justice League's first season is still in that idiotic open-matte presentation. I never bought it on DVD or Blu because of that, guess I'll live with it being part of my Netflix package.

That is technically correct, they didn't start animating in widescreen until the second season. Most of the first season was pretty weak anyway, IMO.

They still haven't put up the fourth season of The Twilight Zone, it's odd that they have seasons 1-3 & 5. I wish they'd put up they original The Outer Limits as well.

The cancelled NBC series "Awake" in now on Netflix. It's not on DVD or BD right now.

And for anyone who's curious, yes it's worth watching. And even though it was cancelled, it has an ending that is satisfying.

Jane Campion's 2013 series Top of the Lake was added today. It's the Sundance version which ran 7 episodes instead of 6.

Stars Elisabeth Moss, Cohen Holloway, Holly Hunter and Peter Mullan.

Metacritic Rating: 86%

Continuum Season 1 will be added tomorrow.

While I'm at it, ParaNorman will be added on Thursday. Copper: Season 1, Safe (2012) and Drop Dead Fred (heh) will be added on Friday.

South Park and Avatar - the last Airbender are both leaving in the next week or two.

I'd like to get caught up on South Park but I have so many other things on my plate. I saw the complete Avatar series, very nice show though the movie wasn't that good.

Re: The OFFICIAL Noteworthy New Arrivals to Netflix Thread

Playful = animated.

Both Night Watch and Day Watch featured subtitles that are part of the movie, if someone got a bloody nose underwater, it would form into subtitles. If there was a beating heart, the subtitles would pulsate with it, if there was a score being announced and someone scored, it would roll over in the subtitles. The subtitles in Night Watch were as over the top as the movie, they are subdued a bit in Day Watch but it still adds to the experience.

The US Bluray release of Day Watch had optional subtitles (these are obviously hardcoded), which means they were your standard subs like any other movie.
