Was the show shot on 35mm and then scanned to create the HD masters?

Yes. I'm guessing these will be what the blu rays look like, so 16x9

What was the intended ratio? Was it supposedly always intended to be 1.78 and was broadcast cropped at 1.33 to prepare for the widescreen future?

probably intended as 1:33, as it debut'd in 1994. I believe its final 2 or 3 seasons aired in HD for those that got HD in 2002/04

also mentioned on the wiki Friends page "On October 15, 2014, Netflix announced it would be adding all ten seasons of Friends in high-definition to their streaming service, beginning on january 1, 2015"

It was always intended to be 1.33. Expect a few boom mics and weird details to scenes, it'll actually be a fun re-watch.

i think for the Blu's they actually reformatted the masters, so you don't see any boom mic's and stuff you're not supposed to see

The 100 (The CW) which just premiered season 2 last night is now on Netflix.

It's 13 episodes. If you have the time, it's a fun watch. It's a science fiction drama. I know some here tried it last Spring, but got impatient with it and bailed. It did get better.

Not worth it to start an actual thread just yet. But the new Netflix original series "Bloodline" starring Kyle Chandler premieres next March. It's from the Producers of Damages.

The heist thriller Swelter was recently added to Netflix

Salem season 1 is currently on Netflix. I know most here probably didn't see it because their providers didn't carry WGN America or just didn't have the time.

Season 2 airs April 2015, so you have some time to catch up if you have the time.

Hola still works for you? I used to use it all the time till one day Netflix would keep signing me out and blocking access to other countries. Is there a workaround?
