Re: Notable Amazon Instant Video Freebies, Discounts, New Additions

It's weird though, $2m an episode seems awfully high. I'm assuming that's the total cost when you take it fees paid by Amazon, Hulu, Hallmark and Broadcast Syndication?

I wish Netflix got in on that, while I have Amazon Prime and can watch it on there I still hate the interface... and Hulu has commercials.

Amazon, IMDb Extend X-Ray to TV Shows

Amazon's X-Ray "vision" can now see through TV shows. Six months after the online retail giant introduced "X-Ray for Movies," the feature is expanding to popular television programs available on the Kindle Fire HD.

X-Ray lets users tap the screen to find out the names and filmography of the actors they're watching, thanks to integration with the Amazon-owned Internet Movie Database (IMDb).

"X-Ray has been one of the most loved features on Kindle Fire HD since it launched last September," Peter Larsen, vice president of Amazon Kindle, said in a statement.

Beginning today, X-Ray for TV is available on the most popular TV shows from Amazon Instant Video, including Justified, Downton Abbey, The West Wing, Sons of Anarchy, Falling Skies, American Horror Story, Grey's Anatomy, Doctor Who, The Walking Dead, LOST, Glee, Breaking Bad, and Game of Thrones.

"For over 20 years we have been cultivating a vast database of movie, TV and celebrity content," IMDb founder and CEO Col Needham said in a statement. "Can't remember where you've seen the actor playing Lord Grantham in Downton Abbey? No problem. Simply tap on the screen and you'll see a full filmography, where you'll realize that Hugh Bonneville was also in Notting Hill."

"Our vision is to make X-Ray available on every movie and TV show," Needham said. "We're excited to make another big step forward today, and we are working hard to add X-Ray to more TV shows and movies in the future."

Re: Notable Amazon Instant Video Freebies, Discounts, New Additions

They are adding the Scripps shows at a snails pace. I noticed that some of the new additions only have single seasons added. I want to re-visit some of the older No Reservations episodes, but right now they only have like 3 seasons.

I'm just happy they're finally adding the shows. But I agree, I wish there were more seasons. And I've noticed some of the seasons aren't complete.

No Reservations
Season 4 - 20 episodes (Amazon lists 14)
Season 5 - 20 episodes (Amazon lists 18)
Season 6 - 26 episodes (Amazon lists 19)

I'm hoping they'll eventually get around to adding some of those Travel Channel Disney specials.

There's a huge list of Amazon Prime titles expiring on April 30th. Looks like over 1,100 movies. Lots of stuff on my Watchlist.

That's a bummer. The one downside to Streaming is that licenses expire and you'll no longer be able to watch it. That's the one benefit of having the disc.

I was wondering if SG-1 and SGA were expiring on Amazon. Those were removed from Netflix last summer.

A lot of the older MGM movies appear to be included on that list.

If they are like Netflix, many of them will come back in 3 to 6 months. They like to rotate movies. The James Bond movies for example come and go every few months on Netflix.

Re: Notable Amazon Instant Video Freebies, Discounts, New Additions

does Amazon IS only have English dubbed versions for foreign films? i streamed Cold Prey not knowing it was English dubbed and not original language. the dub was so poorly done it took me right out of the movie. this is not a good practice if true for all...

If it's tied to Netflix's purge of Warner, MGM, and Unite titles today, then these are now exclusive to the Warner Archive service. Who knows when they will return? (When WA totally fails, probably. )

Re: Notable Amazon Instant Video Freebies, Discounts, New Additions

Amazon announced some new Prime titles on their front page:

More exclusives for Amazon Prime members—we've just finalized a deal with NBC/Universal for Grimm Season 1, Suits Season 1, and Covert Affairs Seasons 1-2 launching today, and two new series: Hannibal coming later this year, and Defiance early next year. Amazon Prime will be the exclusive subscription service for streaming all of these hit shows for the next 4 years.

We're also adding fan favorites like Smash, Eureka, Warehouse 13, and Alphas, and more kids' shows like Curious George and Land Before Time. Prime members are already enjoying The Hunger Games, just added in April, and our brand new Amazon Original Pilots, where your feedback will help us decide which shows we'll make into full seasons just for Prime Instant Video.

The Master is $0.99 for a 48-hour rental (SD/HD).

REMINDER - Rent the movie at the website and you have 30-days to start watching it. If you rent it through a set-top box or game console, the playback starts immediately.

This really isn't the right thread to talk about Amazon Prime, but I get HD streaming through my Xbox 360.

Thanks for moving my thread, sorry.

I was specifically asking about the Roku (2 or 3).
