I only just found Best Prices then and they prices are brilliant.

So what's the catch? Anyone else shopped there?

A representative from this company posted over on the animeondvd web board stating that through some special arrangements they are able to get certain titles for cheaper than usual. This seems to apply to anime titles especially.

He seemed very helpful and willing to entertain suggestions from their potential customer base (i.e. special discount programs for people who order more than $500 from them, etc.)

Thanks for that Lurker.

They are a normal retail shop though aren't they?

Original Poster FHRX was correct. Their prices are very good.

I ordered trhe first Prisoner set for the lowest price I've found. I had already picked up set #2 at Circuit City B&M for 28.95 which I thought was pretty good.

After I placed the order with BestPrices.com, I received an e-mail stating that they were out of stock which of course disappointed me.

The e-mail does not state how long this will take.

I'm in the same wait state with Barnes & Noble on the Beastie Boys which ordered way back in December.

I'll keep everyone posted...

Thanks mate.

AT least they mailed you to let you know they're out of stock.

That's one point for customer service.

Got an e-mail today stating that my order was now pending shipment. Expected ship date = 1/25/01.

Status has not changed throughout the day.

Don't know what to think about this experience at this time.

I'll keep the DVDTALK gang posted.

I ordered an in-stock item on 1/14.

Order status has been 'pending shipment' ever since. Still hasn't posted to my CC.

Just a quick comment. I haven't yet ordered from them, but they are listed by Bizrate.com, so I'd consider them pretty legit, and their prices on anime are excellent, especially for non-preorders. I mean, 16.00 for Gasaraki or something like that, normally costs well over 20 anywhere else.

I have placed a few anime orders from them, all in stock, and was happy with the service. Now I am in the middle of an item that was backordered before I made my order. It has been about 30 days now, and still no word on when it will ship. For now I would only order items that show more then 10 or so in stock...and you will be happy with the service.

Just got a shipping notice stating that my order shipped today.

All in all, it took twelve days to put this in the mail to me for an item that was listed in stock when I placed the order.

I'll check back with them again and we'll see if they do better.
