GameStop Trade in program question

GameStop is having the following trade in special: Tiered Trade Offer 3/$10, 5/$20, 7+/$35. The really small print states "Trade any 3 games and get an extra $10 in-store credit, trade any 5 for an extra $20 or 7 or more for an extra $35." Since I've never traded anything at GameStop ever, I want to clarify that they will give my the amount my trade in is worth PLUS the additional $ amount for meeting the criteria of x amount of games.

Also, I have a few games that have never been opened. I was told that I had to tear off the shrinkwrap for GameStop to take them. It seems to me that a game still wrapped is worth more than an open game, but that's just me.

Yes that is extra toward the trade in value. I went into a gamestop with a sealed game once and the person behind the counter treated it like a return and gave me full value for it. I doubt that is policy, but I was sure happy with it.

If you want value for a new game, you need to sell it yourself. Unless you get lucky, like the poster above, they will only give you the used trade in price, regardless of whether or not it is opened. And they will probably open it just to be sure the game is in there, because you could've re-shrinkwrapped an empty box.

Re: GameStop Trade in program question

Most places that take trade ins won't accept sealed games. They think that it is more likely to be a stolen game. The rub on the trade ins for this promotion at gamestop is that the value of each game has to be at least $3. You can check the likely value here: http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/...d.php?t=317063

Best Buy is currently running a promo for an additional 100% bonus trade values. You can check values here: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....7093&type=page
