Buybacks at Newbury Comics

There's one Newbury Comics about 45 minutes away from where I live, and their prices are certainly more reasonable than FYE and some other places near where I live. I was wondering what their buyback rate is? Like, do they pay you more than FYE would? I plan on going through my DVD collection and getting rid of tons of DVDs, so I was wondering where I could get a better deal.

I never sold dvds there but I've sold tons of cds to them. I used to do pretty good financially from it but that was quite awhile back.

I would say they are comparable. If you want straight cash go with Newbury's though. FYE gives you less if you want cash as they like to push store credit. Also at FYE it seems they get very annoyed every time you come in wanting to sell things. FYE is also more selective over what they will buy (title wise). The staff at Newbury's (regardless of the location) are always overtly nice and are willing to do anything to help out a customer. Either option though, don't expect to get a lot for your discs as the buy back value all around is a fraction of what you probably paid originally.

Re: Buybacks at Newbury Comics

I didn't bring my CDs and DVDs to trade in tonight since I wanted to hear what everyone had to say. I honestly don't have a preference as to whether or not I get store credit or cash, since I know when I get store credit at FYE I always use that towards a DVD or CD I want, but 99% of the time I buy used from both stores. Newbury is definitely all around cheaper with their used (and occasionally new) products, so I just wanted to make sure that that didn't have an effect on the buyback value of a certain product.

Newbury's prices being lower can have an adverse affect on the buyback price because they won't buy something if they have too much in stock. Normally when they have a sale item it is because they have too many.
