Amazon.ca now shipping with UPS
Ordered some DVDs last week and today got a UPS notice on my door. Called UPS to find out how to get my package and was told I would have to wait till they delivered it again tomorrow which could be "anytime". The operator even suggested I take time off work to be there for the pick-up. When I told her I could not do that, nor have the package shipped to work, she suggested I pick it up in three days from their office which is an hour and 20 minutes away.
Boy, this is a big change from when I could just walk to the post office around the corner and get my items. I used to order DVDs and books weekly from them. Sadly, this will not be the case now if I have the schlep my ass on a 2 hour trip to get my packages. |

Did you choose "free shipping" or another method?
I am asking as I just ordered 2 DVDs, w/free shipping, and they arrived by Canada Post. James ![]() |

Re: Amazon.ca now shipping with UPS
Yes, I choose free shipping. It appears, from what I am reading at other forums, that it's a crap shoot right now. Sometimes it goes out via UPS and other times via Canada Post. You are never sure and Amazon's form letter reply to complaints says you cannot pick a preference.

Thanks! That's a bummer. I also work during the day and it would be a pain to have to to a UPS place to pick up stuff. Will stick to DD I think.

Re: Amazon.ca now shipping with UPS
Craaaaap! How am I supposed to order surprise gifts for my husband if I have to send him to UPS to pick them up? At least I could get to the mailbox before him when I knew it was coming. Hey, thanks for the alert!!! Off to go cancel his holiday order.

Re: Amazon.ca now shipping with UPS
I assume the OP is in Canada? Ups in the US leaves stuff at my door. Does Amazon.ca require UPS to get a signature? Maybe see if there is some sort of release that you can get form UPS so they will leave stuff.

You must live in a nice place. If UPS leaves stuff at the door here it's good odds someone will swipe it.

Why? Do you live in the ghetto or something?

No. I am in the GTA (Greater Toronto Area). But you don't leave stuff outside the door or it will most likely disappear.

Re: Amazon.ca now shipping with UPS
If they use UPS, they can count me out as a customer. There's no outlet here, they arrive whenever they please, so to hell with them. Way too many bad experiences already.
