no, its a real thing. Online retailers have great sales on a certain Monday, just like the brick and mortars do on Black Friday. I just don't remember what Monday its on. So, according to Mopower, it'll be on the 26th, thanks.

Traditionally, it's been the Monday after Thanksgiving. The rationale was that that was the day people retuned to work and that their work computers would be faster than their home computers so they would shop from their desks. The widespread growth of broadband and cable has probably changed this, though.

Before Thanksgiving I heard a CNN report that had Cyber Monday occuring sometime in December. The media should get their story straight if they wanna actually invent this!

Similar story here: NYC CBS Noon news has a business report with a savvy woman who ONLY covers Wall Street and financial news. About 10 day ago she insisted that Cyber Monday was the Monday before Thanksgiving even after a polite correction by the newscaster.
