I dropped around $250 on this past sale. I'm not going to bother to look up my old orders, but if memory serves, $250 is what I usually spend during these sales.

I was $4.45 shy of $500. Didn't expect to spend anywhere near that amount, but everything was such a bargain. Probably will do the same in the fall. This was my first time participating in the sale.

my purchasing decisions have changed over the years as I realized some of the movies in the past I am never really going to watch again, or in the case of anime, will drop lower and lower
Now I tend to focus more on obviously great deals or criterion movies
spent 180, usually spending 200-300 each sale

$150 this time, I think I did more previously. But I have started to pare down my buying because:
a. I don't have as much discretionary income
b. I rent much more online
c. anticipating new format(s)

The really f'd up thing for me is everytime I buy when these sales hit, I end up just having the dvds sit on my shelf because I don't have that much time to watch them which sucks. I then realize that I should have just waited in the first place but these sales are addicting as hell. I told myself I would buy a couple things but ended buying over $250 dollars worth. I promise the next sale I will resist...

My family and I usually do all of our DVD shopping during the 20% sale. I've been shopping at DDD since 2003, and only have five non-sale orders totaling $116.02.
Code:
06/2006 $109.20 11/2005 $288.60 06/2005 $243.32 11/2004 $191.85 TOTAL $832.97

I only spent about $75 all 3 orders combined, actually a little less. That's about the same amount I spend each sale. Sometimes its less, but on average that's what I can budget.

So you had a bad experience. When a company is that big, someone's going to have one. For that one bad experience, there are easily several hundred to several thousand good transactions.
To react the way you do is childish and irrational. Do you stop doing business with every merchant after one bad experience?

Zero for me this time. Didn't have much on my wishlist, and nothing was priced low enough to really entice me.
The past couple sales I've spent around $150 each time.
My DVD buying has slowed a lot recently since finally joining netflix.
