Well, I just dropped my membership from 2 to 1 at a time with BD Access and streaming. The issue I have with Netflix is am paying EXTRA for BD movies and the top 18 in ym queue all have a wait (all BD). I'm starting to get pissed....I no longer get any new releases lately. I wonder if I should call to bitch to see if they switch things up for me....I'm just annoyed lately.

They have shipped me some Blu-Rays, but it was Day of the Dead, The Secret, 10,000 BC, What Happens in Vegas...all were basically 20+ in my queue.

ANNOYED.

I'm a regular user and I've had a tough time getting new releases of late too. I've actually dropped both of my memberships down to 5 and 4 respectively. Instead of trying to rush them back, I've been keeping them for a week at a time. I figured this would make it a bit easier to get the brand new stuff but it hasn't been working very well for me.

Did anyone else notice this?

http://www.hackingnetflix.com/2008/1...ix-offers.html

Quote:
Netflix recently changed the DVD shipping process when your first choice movie is not available at the shipping center nearest you.

We have 55 shipping centers throughout the U.S., including Anchorage, Alaska and Honolulu, Hawaii. Previously, if the movie you wanted was not in stock locally, we sent it from another shipping center. Since this DVD was shipped from farther away, it took longer to arrive and you could end up without a DVD for a few days. This was especially inconvenient for our members on 1-disc plans.

Now, if your first choice is not available in your local shipping center, we immediately send the next locally available movie in your Queue, and whenever possible, we also send your first choice from another part of the country.

We want you to receive DVDs as quickly as possible, so we’re taking this extra step to ensure you have another movie to enjoy as a complimentary extra DVD rental if your first choice will be delayed.

This change took effect Dec 11, 2008 and applies to all Netflix members.

That will be sweet if true. Pretty sure I've had at least one long distance disc since the 11th with no bonus disc though.

So I'm currently watching Right at Your Door via Watch Instantly on my xbox360, and the video is full frame. I see from the imdb page for the movie that the correct aspect ratio is 1.85:1. I've only been a netflix member for a couple weeks now and have watched a bunch of things using Watch Instantly, and don't recall experiencing a movie being framed incorrectly.

My question is, is this completely unheard of, or are there a lot of incorrectly framed releases available on Watch Instantly?

To quote myself, anyone else experiencing this? The first 19 movies in my QUEUE have a WAIT status. 16 of them are Blu-Ray discs. I'm debating if I should call Netflix and complain. They charge an extra $1 and don't even improve the service. I know it's only a $1...but multiply that by the 5 million people that took advantage of it, and that's a lot of dollars. I'm just annoyed. I feel that if I bitch, it may improve for a short time. I think since I am a 1 at a time customer, I'm not important to them.

Every single one of my BlueRae discs are long/short wait (12 of them), I am also a 1 at a time customer. In past I responded to this by opening a new account. Magically everything would open up to "available" with a new account.

Re: Anyones Netflix service starting to suck?

What the heck is up with the new FOX movies coming out on Netflix? All of the latest ones have "Very Long Wait."

Normally I try to return my movies by Friday or Saturday to get the newest releases by Tuesday. However, I did not receive shipments for Babylon AD and Mirrors even though they were at the top of my list and on release day that had "Very Long Wait." I ended up buying Mirrors and renting Babylon at my local Mom and Pop store.

I've had Max Payne at the top of my list since last week and returned 2 movies on Saturday. I returned 2 movies on Saturday and looked today and they skipped Max Payne and Vacancy 2 and shipped my 3rd and 4th selections. I anticipate Max Payne being "Very Long Wait" tomorrow.

Is Netflix getting limited quantities of some of these movies?

Re: Anyones Netflix service starting to suck?

I also didn't get Mirrors and Babylon AD but Max Payne does show that it shipped today. They shipped my top 3 new releases today and I had Vacancy 2 as my fourth movie so it will probably drop down to very long wait. So can't tell if they would have shipped it if I would have had it higher.

Re: Anyones Netflix service starting to suck?

I tried to contact customer service (through phone and email) but I got no answer for this question. I took advantage of the settlement benefit and my membership details say, "Your Netflix Settlement benefit of a free or discounted month of Netflix is active and ends 02/23/2009." Does this mean I have until the 23rd and I'm charged on the 24th or does it mean I have to cancel on the 22nd so I'm not charged on the 23rd? I assumed it was the former, but I wanted to be sure.

Re: Anyones Netflix service starting to suck?

I'd been doing fairly well in terms of new releases being shipped on Mondays. I'd return all my titles on Saturday and get all of my new stuff come Tuesday. This week? Netflix checked in 1 of 5 returns on my main account and 1 of 4 on my secondary.

Have you tried staggering your returns instead of mailing them all at once? That might help keep a more steady flow of stuff coming in.

I was for a while but then it seemed like it would take longer to get titles to me. I might have to go that route again.

Re: Anyones Netflix service starting to suck?

I've never had a problem with Netflix, but the last two Blu-Ray movies I've received have been cracked on the edge of the disc.

What the hell?

Chad had a ton of problems like that. There's a thread about it somewhere on here.

EDIT....found it.
Cracked Blu-rays from Netflix?

Now here's the best part - I returned the extra disc along with another one in Monday's mail, and I just now checked my queue and saw that they are sending me another extra disc. Cool!

I just got an email, telling me that they were raising the monthly cost of Blu-ray membership by another dollar, starting to get on my nerves...

Re: Anyones Netflix service starting to suck?

I have no problem with the additional cost if they increase their Blu-ray inventory. Way too many of my queued titles are "Long wait" or "Very long wait."

Re: Anyones Netflix service starting to suck?

Yea I just got the same email.

You are receiving this email because you added unlimited Blu-ray access to your account for $1 a month. The number of Blu-ray titles has increased significantly and will continue to do so. As we buy more, you are able to choose from a rapidly expanding selection of Blu-ray titles. And as you've probably heard, Blu-ray discs are substantially more expensive than standard definition DVDs.

As a result, the monthly charge for Blu-ray access is increasing for most plans and will now vary by plan. The charge for monthly Blu-ray access on your 3 DVDs at-a-time (Unlimited) plan will increase from $1 a month to $4 a month. The price of your 3 DVDs at-a-time (Unlimited) plan is not changing and remains at $16.99 a month.

The new charge for Blu-ray access will be automatically added to your next billing statement on or after April 27, 2009 and will be referenced in your Membership Terms and Details.

If you wish to continue unlimited Blu-ray access for $4 a month, you don't need to do anything. If not, you can remove Blu-ray access anytime by visiting Your Account.

If you have questions about this change or need any assistance, please call us anytime at 1-888-923-0898.

Yep, I just got that email as well. It sucks, but not nearly as bad as the availability of titles at Blockbuster.com. I thought I would try BB again after a long hiatus since my local store had closed. Titles not available on BB are on Netflix, and the fact they they are a day slower each way for me means I'll be one month with BB and done. Almost every BD I received over the Christmas holidays had the crack near the edge of the disc so them raising the prices sucks. I think the problem with the discs is the Post Office machinery, but NF could package the discs in stiffer sleeves.

Got it, too. Guess I'll be paying more for the same crappy service until somebody new comes into the game and steals away Netflix's business.
