Well, my netflix service has turned to shit the past two weeks.
I've been a member for more than a year now but the service the past two or 3 weeks has been inexcusable. Movies take forever when they used to take 1 day to ship to me. now they take 3 or 4 days and they seem to have to ship my movies from farther locations now so therefore i get only about half the amount of movies i used to get. Looks like it might be time to switch to blockbuster if netflix keeps this shit up!!! |

What type of titles are you renting? One thing I've noticed is usually the more odd/rare/limited the title, it seems to have a greater chance of coming from further away. Just a thought... for the record my Netflix service has been about the same as usual for the past couple of months (usually 5-6/week on the 3 out plan).

Seems to go in waves for me. Usually pretty quick on turn around but sometimes there's a few days of nothing.

My netflix service has been fairly consistent. I had a brief period of shipping delays and an increase in short and long wait titles earlier this summer, but that has since disappeared.

I've had a lot of headaches with Netflix lately. I'm on the 7 at a time plan. The way I've had my account working for months is I've been getting all 7 in at the same time and returning all 7 at the same time. On Sundays I'd add some new releases to the top of my queue and they'd ship on Monday or Tuesday. No problems, everything was running smoothly. And then it happened....
I dropped 7 titles in a local mailbox on a Sunday morning. 2 arrived at Netflix on Tuesday. The other 5? Vanished. They never made it back to Netflix. I had to wait nearly a week to get them cleared from my queue and reported as lost. I was told that the discs were not my responsibility, accidents happen and that there would be no repercussions on my account. I believed the CSR whom told me that. Since then, I have been having issues. I returned 7 in one day to see 3 replacements ship the next day, 2 to ship the following day and 2 to ship the day after that from locations that aren't quite local. As for getting new releases from the top of my queue? Not happening anymore. They're digging deeper into my queue for titles to ship and allowing the new releases at the top to go from "short wait" to "very long wait". I called tonight to address these issues with a CSR and was told that there are no problems with my account. Said CSR also told me that I should read the terms of service to help further understand shipping allocations and the terms regarding my other issues. Basically reading the terms of service told me that Netflix can do whatever they want, whenever they want. I hate to be a pessimist but I can't believe that these issues with my service are just a coincidence and not somehow related to the 5 missing movies.

Just signed up recently, so I don't have the experience as some others here - but so far, so good. I return a DVD on Monday, and have a new one in my mailbox on Wed.

Same here, in my two years (off and on) with Netflix, I have never seen any activity acknowledged by them on a Saturday.

I'm new, but they still never send anything on Saturdays. I just figured that's how it works.

I apologize if someone else has posted this idea. I don’t have time to read every post in this thread.
Here is a solution to getting some movies faster. I had a Netflix CSR recommend this to me and I have been using this for a long time now with no problems. I live in Olathe, KS so the Kansas City distribution center is real close. 99% of my movies are back to them in one day. When returning movies, what I do is put two movies in one envelope and then keep the extra envelope and put it off to the side. When I get a movie from New Jersey, Oregon, Hawaii, etc. I throw away the envelope that’s addressed to that far away city and put the movie in the envelope addressed to Kansas City that I saved. That way the returned movie gets back quicker and I get my next movie quicker (Unless of course if the next movie is coming from a far away city). Nonetheless though, I still return movies faster that way. Last edited by Alternative3; 09-18-07 at 11:38 AM. |

Every time I receive a Netflix movie from a non-local distribution center for some reason, they always wind up at my local center. Because there's no way a movie can make it from Providence RI to California in a day. They've got to be going to the local center in Worcester because they're almost always checked in the very next day after I mail them out.

The CSR probably already knows this and offers this advice because it gets you to stuff two disc in one envelope, thereby lowering the postage incurred by Netflix (or does it? these new postal rates are hard to follow). Last edited by ResIpsa; 09-18-07 at 03:30 PM. |

That is true! It does say 'nearest Netflix facility'. I wonder how long thats been going on. I know in the past some movies of mine took 2,3, 4 days to get returned. I would have to assume in the past they went to the cities they came from. The CSR I talked to gave me that impression at least. Either way I am still gonna return all my movies in an envelope addressed Kansas City. |

So I'm just starting back up on Netflix and I have a quick question... If I have a movie as #1 on my list with any kind of "wait" period on it, does Netflix go down the queue until they find one available and send that one out? Or do they actually wait until the priority title is available? I think they go down the list, but I couldn't find anything that said that on the website.

Yep, that's what always seems to works best. Unless you absolutely need/want a particular title (and it happens to be available now) put the wait list items, and new releases, at the top and then list everything else.

Thats what I've been doing, it isn't helping so much with the HD titles (Knocked Up is already set to Very Long Wait).
I haven't had many service issues with Netflix thus far, but their stocking of popular titles in HD is subpar and disappointing.. |

For the first time in as long as I can remember, I had several movies ship yesterday from my local distribution center and only received one of the titles today. I'm hoping the others arrive tomorrow.

Got the rest of mine today. I'm hoping this was an isolated incident and not the start of a new trend.
