Yep, they have that in their statment now, so there's nothing to be done.

They realized high volume users aren't profitable for them, and are trying to drive them off, much like Best Buy with the "devil customers."

Sucks for those that like to rent a lot, but that's their perogative.

Luckily I have no problems as I'm on the three at a time plan, and as I'm busy as hell I rarely ever get through more than 3 movies a week. Sometimes like now when I'm really swamped I get through 3 about every 2 weeks.

But for $18, and the convenience of not having to leave the house to pick them up and return them, I have no complaints at all.

I don't know if it is my mail service or Netflix starting to suck. They use to get my returned movies in one day, now it is taking 2-4 days on average. I am on the 3 out plan and I usually only watch/return 3 movies a week, hardly consider myself a high volume renter.

Not to mention that I can't seem to get any of the new HD DVD releases, they are all on long or very long waits. I had to resort to starting another queue, only adding those titles, and setting up my account so that it will only pull movies out of that queue. Someone over at AVSForum said that this works well.

I am a new customer, only for about a month now, they just started to slow me down I sent in three movies 4-7 days ago and still have not received anything, the 3 I returned didn't even appear on the website as returned, I reported them all as returned.

This is what my queue looks like:

1 We expect to ship your next available movie today. (More)
2 We expect to ship your next available movie today. (More)
3 We expect to ship your next available movie today. (More)

You know they are trying to screw you when they ship a movie to you from a Hawaii Netflix distribution center not once but twice in a week even though there is one in my VERY own city! It took 5 days for the movie to get to me!!!!

Just to let you guys know. I think making another queue for high-demand titles worked for me. I've been waiting for the HD DVD of Kiss Kiss Bang Bang and on Monday they sent something else instead of it (saying it was a very long wait). So in my new high demand queue, where everything shows short to very long waits they sent out the HD DVD of KKBB and Syriana today.

My next rentals in line will be interesting, HD DVD releases of 16 Blocks and Firewall, which have been passed over several times since their release in my other queue.

Wow, I dropped one at the box outside the post office at 6 pm yesterday (closes at 5, last pick up at 5) and it was received by Netflix this morning.

I figured for sure it would be Thurs or Friday since I dropped it so late.

Sorry you guys have such problems, they've been great to me the 3 months or so I've used them (Gaithersburg, MD dist. center).

Wow, that's awfully close to what just happened to me. I just bought my HD-DVD player and I should have it Monday. I just signed up for the Netflix 3 out plan with 16 Blocks, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, and Firewall as my top 3. When I put them in my queue yesterday, 16 Blocks and KKBB were "short wait" and Firewall was "long wait." So I expected to dip further down my list, and I just got 3 emails saying that all three were shipped today. Odd, but happy for me, wondering if anything is different because I'm on my trial period.

It has been shown many times in the past that people with trial accounts get preference over everyone else.

Ah, I see. I suppose I'll just be happy now and pissed later, can't wait to see them on the new player.

It's a new scheme they are using now instead of throttling. Now they ship you your dvd from the furthest possible distribution center so it will take
3-5 days to get to you and in turn reduce the number of rentals per month. It won't be long until they get sued for this. I live in Jackson,MS (there is a distribution center here) and they shipped my last 3 dvds from San Jose, CA, Honolulu,Hawaii and Chicago, IL! I received all three of them in 3-5 days.
So much for that next day service crap.

Yep, that's the one, Hurricane.

By the way, Netflix sent out a replacement after I reported the first DVD lost, and it was mailed out from Hartford, CT and arrived the next day. Go figure.

Thanks guys. I live in Virginia and up until a month ago I received almost all of my discs from Charlottesville, which is the closest center to me. I thought that location might have closed, because I started getting shipments from Richmond. Now I know they've started the scheme Hurricane described up thread on me. My last five shipments have been from Richmond, New York, Las Vegas, and today I got two discs from Hawaii.

I guess Netflix has the day off today (and tomorrow, of course). No emails or queue changes and one always happens by now on a Monday.

Edit: I guess they are there, just slower than normal. One disc was checked in (although, I was really expecting a higher total).

I resubscribed a month ago after about a 5 month hiatus just to see if I would be still throttled and if not, how long it would take to be throttled. I had the 3 at a time deal. I returned each disc the same day they arrived. After about 2 weeks they started shipping from a different center and the turnaround time increased about 2 days. I got 6 discs a week the first 2 weeks. By week 3 I was down to 3 discs a week. Surprisingly, 95% the movies I had in my queue were available. I cancelled last night to avoid further charges. Also, after 2 weeks I received an e-mail trying to get me to upgrade to another plan.

If they didn't throttle and have tactics like shipping from other places I would still subscribe. It's that damn sneakiness that I hate.

I returned one disc on Friday. I returned two others on Saturday. Nothing was checked in today. I would blame it on the holiday, but most movies I send on Friday are not checked in until Tuesday.

As for the discs being sent from out of state, I asked why I should be forced to wait three to 7 days for the item to be checked back in when I send back a disc whose destination is out of state. I suggested the return envelope should have my local distribution center address. The CSR had no comment.

Today, the top 10 movies in my queue were all available, but Netflix decided to send me #'s 7, 9, and 11 in my queue. The distribution logic just doesn't make sense.

I put two discs in Saturday's mail, they were checked in this morning and the first two movies in my queue went out today, and are due to arrive Wednesday. This is the way it's been going for several months now.

Returned five movies from Friday to Monday. Today, Neftlix checked in just one of them--the disc that was dropped in the mailbox Sunday night.
