What was that about the Madden curse not being real?

(But I kinda like the Chiefs.)

Bench Brady and start Jimmy Garoppolo in New Orleans for week 2.

You left our Brady and the insufferable GOAT talk.

One can hope that would be the result, but this team will still win more games than not and they'll go right back to it after a few wins.

Going into this I was surprised how little chance so many were giving KC. That NE team has some really big holes. Better than most teams, but not some elite team that would have gone undefeated.

Re: 2017 NFL Regular Season Thread -- Week 01

Well, the big thing missing yesterday was Brady and Gronk. Even with Edelman out and Amendola getting hurt (multiple times), Brady has been a successful QB without a lot of weapons for a while now. I mean that first drive they looked great!

the defense was obviously not good and a I think they gave up the most points of any Belichek team, but the offense turned it over on multiple fourth downs and then couldn't get it in the end zone.

I can understand why people were down on KC before this game. Due to cap reasons they had to give up Maclin, they lost their starting running back, and Alex Smith is still under center. And heck I didn't think Hill would be this good again.

Heck, I thought the game was over until Gronk's TD was called back. If he holds on, maybe they run away with it.

That's awful. Not only is it a HUGE loss for the defense, they got rid of Jeremy Macklin and let Dontare Poe walk in order to afford to give Berry a fat paycheck.

I think I would have rather seen the Chiefs lose and Eric Berry not get injured. Next up, his replacement is Daniel Sorenson, he has mostly played on special teams.

Re: 2017 NFL Regular Season Thread -- Week 01

I heard a lot of speculation this morning that Gronk suffered some kind of minor arm injury during that dropped TD play. During the second half it sure did seem like he was only running routes as a decoy trying to open things for up Cooks. There were times where it seemed Gronk was open but Brady didn't go his way.

Re: 2017 NFL Regular Season Thread -- Week 01

If the effect of losing Berry is anything like how losing Earl Thomas hurt the Seahawks, KC will have a lot to overcome. Better hope that offense can keep scoring and control the ball.

I don't hate the Chiefs, but yeah, we've collectively been saved from (potentially) an entire year of "perfect season" talk. Woooooo!

NFL suspends kicker Josh Brown six more games for domestic violence accusations

The Giants released Brown last season and he hasn't played since, and is not on a roster
Better give the guilty white dude (who is no longer in the NFL) 6 more games so it appears fair when compared to the (probably not so guilty) black dude, and the later can't cite/use the wildly inconsistent process in court against us.

I wouldn't doubt it. He looked like he was in pain after that play.

Will be interesting to see what Brees can do to that lack of a pass rush in the Superdome next week.

He's my QB, so "interesting" will be one word for it.

I don't dislike the Chiefs but I'm also a huge Pats fan by birth and I agree with you 100%. Pats talk has saturated the pre-season airwaves for weeks now and its old.

Re: 2017 NFL Regular Season Thread -- Week 01

I don't think I've ever heard of someone hating the Chiefs with a passion. Their only SB victory came a year before I was born and I think they have only been to one conference title game since then. I think I can count their playoff victories in my life on one hand. What's to hate?

GoldenJCJ's location says he's in Colorado, he's probably a Broncos fan.
