Wow, the Dodgers are faltering at the worst time possible. Reminds me too much of the 2011 Red Sox and Braves meltdowns....

Re: 2017 MLB Week 23 Sep 4-10 "Labor Day Edition"

I think most of us thought the Dodgers would fall short of the record because it makes sense to ease up on the gas going into the playoffs, but I never expected the wheels to fall completely off. Good teams go through slumps like the Cubs did last year, and the Dodgers should still ease into the playoffs, but it's funny to think how just a few weeks ago we all thought they'd dominate their way to the championship.

Late in the season 2011. Fond memories.

Re: 2017 MLB Week 23 Sep 4-10 "Labor Day Edition"

They were too far up to miss the playoffs but this freefall has permanently damaged the Dodgers. The elephant in the room is that this team has won the division for several years in a row with nothing to show for it. It's not like anyone on the team is a proven playoff performer.

Kershaw is going to have to now pitch like Kershaw in the playoffs if they want some hope deep in October, which is no sure thing. The Cubs beat him last year in the playoffs and the Dbacks have always hit Kershaw pretty well.

Dbacks look like utter shit against Padres. Had 7-2 lead going into 9th and just gave it up. Fuck

A lot of older fans said the 2011 Red Sox and Braves meltdowns reminded them of the collapse of the 1969 season Cubs. What a brutal way to go from contention to out of the playoffs.

Worst collapse ever-1964 Phillies I think(without looking it up) they lost their last 10 games and the Cardinals overtook them and won the pennant and World Series(over NY Yankees).

The struggles of the Dodgers are overshadowing the Cubs-collapse-in-progress.

Brewers complete the sweep. Cards sweep a series of their own. Both Milwaukee and St. Louis are now 2 back.

JD Martinez has 2 more HRs today. Best pre deadline trade ever. They need to figure out a way to dump Tomas and that contract and re-sign him.

Sucks, but hey, it's football season!

Should be a fun race to the end. Cards and Brewers are both playing well right now and there are several head-to-head games left among the three teams.

Brewers were recently swept by the Reds and really weren't playing that well before the sweep. But now they're back in the thick of it.

Doyers lose 10th in a row.

Rockies sweep 4 game series as the dominant Tyler Chatwood shuts out Doyers for 5 innings.

Now it's on to San Fran, where I'm sure the Giants would just love to add to the Doyers current misery.

Aaron Sanchez season is done. He was never able to get his season started because of blister issues.

Well, they're 6-4 in their last 10 so they are playing decent, but certainly not on fire. The Cards are definitely the hottest of the three at the moment, but as we've seen in the division this year, I think any of the three could fall into a slump or go on a win streak to end the season.

Re: 2017 MLB Week 23 Sep 4-10 "Labor Day Edition"

Went to the Cardinals' games Friday and Saturday ... they didn't seem like a team on fire but they are getting it done.

Wasn't too far from Fowler hitting the wall Saturday ... He hit it fast but I didn't think he hit it that hard. He was down for quite awhile but walked off on his own. The other odd thing was the knee he injured wasn't the knee he led into the wall with. First time I've ever seen a MLB inside the park homerun in person!

I was watching on TV. His spike on the foot of the injured leg got caught in the wall which is probably what tweaked the knee.
