Re: The all-inclusive 2017-18 football/futbal/fußball/voetbal/calcio/soccer thread

Man RM got one helluva tough draw for the group stage.

RM
Dortmund
Tottenham
Apoel

Man City will sleep their way to first in their group. Same for Man U. Both got easy draws. Monaco got what appears to be a cake walk group though even though they lost a ton of players this offseason.

Barca got a semi tough one. Juve will be their main issue the other teams shouldn't be a problem.

LP got a decent draw as well and should be able to get through their group.

Full breakdown here:

Group A: Benfica, Man United, FC Basel, CSKA Moscow.

Group B: Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain, Anderlecht, Celtic.

Group C: Chelsea, Atletico Madrid, Roma, FK Qarabag.

Group D: Juventus, Barcelona, Olympiakos, Sporting CP.

Group E: Spartak Moscow, Sevilla, Liverpool, NK Maribor.

Group F: Shakhtar Donetsk, Man City, Napoli, Feyenoord.

Group G: Monaco, FC Porto, Besiktas, RB Leipzig.

Group H: Real Madrid, Borussia Dortmund, Tottenham, APOEL Nicosia.

Love the group.

Considering we were out of the 3rd pot, we got very lucky.

I was at the game last night in the BMO Club lounge and seats. Free food and soft drinks in the lounge before the game and halftime. Our seats, those Blue comfy chairs were located at field level. I have been spoiled!

Agreed.

LP (and its fans) want to bitch about the Coutinho saga but what needs to be done is fix the damn defense. It was horrible last year and is just as bad this year. The offensive side of things is having to cover up for the bad D. I will say that yesterday Henderson was MOTM for me. I am not a fan of his as at all but he worked extremely hard yesterday and won a lot of balls in MF that allowed LP to go on attack immediately.

Essentially this is the same issue with Barca now only they offensive power is missing as well (kinda was last year too). Of course Barca's biggest issue is a weak MF now that cannot win the ball back like it used to.

How old is Dortmund's Dembele? And how much did Barca pay for him?

Bournemouth's Charlie Daniels with a contender for goal of the season.

That was fun to watch. Arsenal was embarrassing in the process.

Pochettino should flog his defense for letting that ball through in extra time. That was pathetic.

Be glad when tomorrow's over. This transfer window has been the worst.

So Oxlade Chamberlain is now a Liverpool player.
Hope tomorrow ends with VVD signed at a minimum and for added bonus Lemar.

Don't care if Phil goes now, he won't get back in the team.

that arsenal performance was dynamite

United have a very easy start to the season. Bring on the end of this window!

Re: The all-inclusive 2017-18 football/futbal/fußball/voetbal/calcio/soccer thread

Crazy rumors all over the place today.

Lemar was supposed to be going to LP, then he was going to Arsenal as they bid a huge 92mil for him.
Supposedly that is busted now as they cannot finalize terms with him today before the deadline therefore Arsenal is not letting Sanchez go to City.

Arsenal are FOOLS! They will not get anything for Sanchez or Ozil come Jan and they will not be staying either. They cashed in BIG on Ox and I think LP were idiots to pay that much for him. He is 15-20 mil guy at best. Can't wait for Arsenal to finish out of CL and Europa league spots this year. Wenger has to go. The board are idiots for keeping him.

Mbappe deal has stalled now as well as Monaco refuse to loan him w/o the mandatory buy clause at the end of this season. PSG is saying due to FFP they can't do the deal that way as the mandatory buy clause would count in this season, not next so they want a loan and then buy later.

Coutinho - who knows at this point. Barca have until tomorrow but there has been no other discussion out there at this point. I am still mixed on this one. Like the kid and think he is a good player but 150m is too damn much. Love Barca and LP both. This has caused so much trouble that I don't see how he can go back to LP and not be benched for quite a while. This is all one giant ass mess.

I was thinking with LP going spend crazy yesterday and today (Ox, then supposedly VVD and Lemar) that Coutinho was definitely gone. Now with Lemar out of the picture and no word on VVD who the hell knows anymore.

What boggles my mind is Draxler staying at PSG (and DiMaria as well). With Neymar there now and Mbappe deal still possibly going down these 2 guys will rarely see the field. I think DiMaria would have been a good pickup for wing attacking at Barca and if gotten cheaply been superb. Draxler is a young talented guy who deserves to be playing regularly and now he will be nothing but a benchwarmer. Just boggles the mind why he hasn't been grabbed by someone else.

Re: The all-inclusive 2017-18 football/futbal/fußball/voetbal/calcio/soccer thread

Well clearly PSG doesn't care about FFP as Mbappe has joined on a loan/buy deal from Monaco for 180mil

There is no way in the world that PSG can buy Neymar for 222mil and Mbappe for 180mil and be within the rules. Of course no sanctions will affect them until I think 2020 when they get busted for it so I guess they are all in and breaking the rules for the next few seasons to try and win CL. Something tells me they will still come up short.

I was so happy that Coutinho's back healed up so he could score for Brazil last night.

So saw Rooney was arrested for drink drive. Puts a damper on the fairytale start to the season. How's that work over there? That give him the boot or get brushed under the rug in a week or two?
