As a lifelong Skins fan, it pains me to say this, but I'm concerned that this ruling may have ignored some key evidence refuting the accuser's allegations. There are multiple sworn statements denying the incidents took place; text messages indicating she may not be telling the truth; claimed threats against Zeke; and a possible alternative cause of the injuries (altercation with another woman).

For these reasons he was not prosecuted. The prosecutor even indicated that her stories were not consistent as the reason for refusing to prosecute.

Maybe it's the lawyer in me but I don't even think a civil burden (i.e., more likely than not) has been carried here by the NFL and the fact they disregarded all of this in giving him the full six games when a White kicker who admits to beating the shit out of his wife multiple times gets one game is fucking lunacy.

Again, if it turns out that Zeke did this, he needs to be gone, forever. I'm just concerned that there is alot of evidence out there supporting that he didn't, and as a lawyer, that concerns me. It also concerns that it could easily happen to one of my team's players too.
Opinion has changed since the suspension was announced. The homerism accusations thrown at Cowboys fans who appeared to defend Zeke were based on ignorance of the case. Since then, a lot of info has been released by the media and issues with the credibility of the alleged victim have been exposed.

The NFL however, as was apparent in their judgement, and this week, in their statement about "victim shaming", seems to have completely disregarded these issues. In a mostly "he says she says" case, how the heck does pointing out lies, contradictions, plans for extorsion, harassment,... get dismissed as "victim shaming" is beyond me. This isn't stuff people made up, it's actual evidence from the police and the NFL investigations.

Maybe Zeke did something to that woman, maybe he didn't. But for pete's sake, when you now have fans of other teams believing Zeke got screwed, and notorious Cowboys haters like Stephen A. Smith and Mike Florio pissed off at the NFL about this suspension, you know something's not right.

http://awfulannouncing.com/nfl/direc...medium=twitter

DirecTV Now is supposedly adding NFL Network and NFL Network Red Zone

Sunday Ticket and DirecTV Red Zone unlikely

Source is a little suspect, so not 100% sure it's accurate.

Re: 2017 NFL Preseason Thread

I really do not get why NFL cannot let you pick which broadcast you want to watch (home or away) ... Watching the Bears game from last night (was at a concert) .. I would much rather watch the Bears announcers, especially in the second half when they are interviewing first teamers and getting some help figuring out what 3rd stringers are on the field

Re: 2017 NFL Preseason Thread

Can one of you lawyers comment on this:

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com...ed-under-oath/

If someone commits perjury, can the NFL do anything about it? If not, isn't being under oath a moot point?

Anquan Boldin retired yesterday with very little fanfare. He was with the Bills less than 1 month. He says he's going to pursue more humanitarian work.

Always liked him even before he went to the 49ers.
Great player, passionate. Wish him well.
Play most of his career in Zona, almost A ring. Ring with the Ravens.

Well, with 10 practice days left before the Season Opener, there is "No Timetable" for Luck's return and he remains on the PUP list, meaning he can't even practice with the team. It now looks inevitable that Tolzien will be the Game 1 starter -- and maybe much more than that one game.
So the weak defensed, poor-running, pass-happy Colts stand to lose an entire season because they willfully ignored all the warning signs that their franchise Pro Bowl QB wasn't going to be healthy enough to play after off-season surgery and chose to stick with a terrible bottom-rung back up instead of grabbing a quality back-up who is capable of starting in the NFL. Where have I heard that before?

Re: 2017 NFL Preseason Thread

More "NFL justice" nonsense:

Quote:
According to Mike Florio at Pro Football Talk, the NFL’s representative tasked with hearing the appeal, Harold Henderson, has already made some preliminary rulings. These rulings have nothing to do with the suspension itself. Instead, they affect how the appeal will be heard.

Per a league source, Henderson has denied a request from Elliott’s representatives to make his accuser... available to testify. Henderson also has denied requests for notes or transcripts of meetings with [Elliott’s accuser].

Instead, Henderson has required only that Kia Roberts, who was involved in the investigation on the league’s behalf, be available to testify.
I can understand not having the alleged victim testify (doubt they could force her and it's probably not in her best interest anyway), but to deny access to evidence used against Zeke? I mean wtf? What are they supposed to do, play 20 questions with Kia Roberts? Ridiculous.

Spencer Ware also went down, but with a PCL instead of ACL.

Dont feel too sorry for him. He fleeced the Texans to sign him to a contract that gave him 37 million guaranteed. Including a 12 mil sining bonus.

Maybe, but he's still in Cleveland. No amount of money can make up for that...

Re: 2017 NFL Preseason Thread

and to think, if he didn't bail to take the big pay day from the Texans, he could have been the heir apparent to Peyton Manning.

Now he's just a very rich backup QB. No way the Browns keep paying him that Texans money for his annual deal. He will get it re-negotiated or will be released after this year.

If Kizer is horrible as a starter, he can always get another chance.
