Re: 2017 NBA Playoffs

There have always been blowouts in all rounds. Especially by the top 4 teams when they face the other four. And as I posted earlier usually by the home team.

Should be fun to see how the Cavs do given all the rest they have had. I believe the total I heard this morning is 24 days off since the playoffs started.

Re: 2017 NBA Playoffs

Another blowout game. There were no signs of rust from the break, well maybe Korver he missed all those corner 3s.

It is sort of a catch 22 for the NBA, but it's still the only sport that the true champion throughout the season always wins. Even though the NBA playoffs usually suck because it's so top heavy, the Finals are always great because it has 2 elite teams playing in it.

Now you look at the NHL playoffs and you have Cinderella teams every year, OT games galore, as the first 3 rounds are entertaining. But it looks like it will be an Ottawa/Nashville Stanley Cup Finals? That's where I give the NBA it's due in that it's really rewarding the Best Team in the Finals, where then NHL, MLB and NFL these days usually reward the team that got hot at the end of the regular season.

Re: 2017 NBA Playoffs

The only reason the Finals have been good the past decade or so is because Lebron has stayed in the East. Seriously if he had moved out West or been hurt, the Western Conference Finals would have been the true Finals almost every year.

Kawhi questionable.

Quote:
SAN ANTONIO -- The availability of Spurs star forward Kawhi Leonard remained in question Thursday for Game 3 of the Western Conference finals as the team took part in its first practice in preparation for Saturday's matchup against the Golden State Warriors.

Leonard did not participate in Thursday's workout, but multiple players said they saw the forward at the club's practice facility.

Re: 2017 NBA Playoffs

Cavs up 41 at the half. That's more points than the Celts have right now (31).

Fast forward to the finals please.

71 - 32, Cavaliers. League is a complete joke. If Durant wanted to take the hardest road, he should have joined the Cavaliers! Enjoy your profits, Silver.

If Thomas is out or hobbled, is there a mercy rule for games 3 and 4?

May I suggest Boston just save the jetfuel and hotel bills they would have used in the travel to Cleveland and donate it instead to the poor? Seems kind of a waste if they actually go thru with game 3.

Same can be said about the Spurs with no Leonard. Might as well not have GS travel to SA and donate that too.

Yeah, I guess not everybody has the desire and drive to do it the right, hard way -- sticking with the small-market team that made him an All Star.

Well, the Celtics are screwed.

Isaiah Thomas out for the remainder of the playoffs with his hip injury.

Get ready for Cavs vs Warriors 3.

Re: 2017 NBA Playoffs

Well hopefully the Cavs and Warriors can get through their last 2 games each without suffering any major injuries. The third go round of their championship bout is lining up to be an epic one. It would be awesome it goes the full seven games.

If I'm not mistaken, didn't the Blazers basically cut most of their team before LA decided to leave?

We were all ready as soon as the ink dried on the contract Durant signed. We all just tried to fool ourselves that someone would make it competitive down the road.

I don't remember that. If they did they were shedding salary to resign him.

How many people said the Spurs were going to the Finals when they got Aldridge? Pretty sure over 90% of the planet said the Warriors were going to the Finals when they got Durant. Apples and oranges when it comes to the individual talent between the two players. If Aldridge cares more about All-Star accolades than winning a ring, then the Spurs have another problem.

When an almost 40 year old Ginobili plays better than you in a game where you could go down 0 - 3 and against the best opponent so far in the playoffs, maybe it's time to reflect on your overall performance. I don't mind losing as long as you give effort. Ginobili worked his ass off without Parker, Kawhi, and Lee; so did Simmons. What was Aldridge doing? Don't know what Buford and Pop can do with him - no team is going to want to trade for him. If Duncan needs to give him a pep talk every time he completely screws up in the playoffs, then I don't know who else can help him.

David Lee is now out for Game 4 and maybe a couple of more months. Stay strong, Durant!

Re: 2017 NBA Playoffs

Aldridge joining the Spurs was definitely pretty damn big. Yeah, he's not on Durant's level, but as far as free agents go everyone was definitely saying it was keeping the Spurs on top.
