Re: 2017 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs

Good day to be a coach with a chance to bury your former team.

OK, so I used to think that O Canada was the prettiest national anthem until I heard it sung by Rene Rancourt accompanied by an organ.

Re: 2017 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs

So far, I'm quite impressed with Boston's game plan to exhaust the Ottawa power play by continually taking delay-of-game penalties.

We'll take 'em but we won't score on 'em. 2-1 now there. #gosensgo

And the couple times when there were two-goal leads, the other team came back to tie it. Close series.

Not the best looking OT so far for the Bruins.

Re: 2017 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs

Congrats to the Sens--I think they were the slightly better team in the series and deserved to move on.

Bruins obituary: obviously all their injured D-men. Of the Boston D, I believe McAvoy had the most ice time after Chara, and a month ago he was playing for Boston University. Also, Marchand never really got into his groove this series--no goals. Rask is a GOOD goalie, but I don't put him in the elite. He makes most of the saves he should, but he never seems to steal a big game in the postseason. Chara looked okay, but once again, at 40 years old and with the minutes he plays, he would have been out of gas in later rounds.

But, given the Bruins talent level this year, I think this is pretty much where they should have finished.

I feel like Justin Williams might have a say in this.

Yet another OT, and 4 on 4 for the first minute plus to start as well. This will be intense.

Re: 2017 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs

I was pulling for Toronto in this series, but I will be rooting for Caps over Pens.

Re: 2017 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs

Caps aren't going anywhere.

They barely beat a Leafs team bursting with rookies. A team that was dead last in the standings last year. I'm not a fan of the Pens, but they should be able to take care of Washington pretty easily.

18 Overtime games in the first round, a new record. Too bad there were no game 7s though.

Re: 2017 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs

Chris Johnston @reporterchris -
Six one-goals games - Five decided in overtime.
Goals: Washington 18 Toronto 16 - Shots: Toronto 213 Washington 212.
Epic.

@PR_NHL -

17 of 41 First Round games (41.5%) have required overtime, matching the record for an opening round (2013 - 17 in 47 GP - 36.2%).
The Senators are playing in their fourth overtime game in a series for the first time in franchise history.
The Bruins require overtime in four games of a series for the fourth time and first since 2012 Conference Quarterfinals vs Washington.

With Washington vs Toronto heading to overtime, 18 of the First Round’s 42 contests (42.9%) have gone past regulation - an NHL record.
The Maple Leafs are playing their fifth overtime game in a series for the second time in franchise history. (First - 1951 Stanley Cup Final)
The Capitals are entering their fifth overtime game in a series for the first time in franchise history.
