Re: 2017 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs

That OT didn't last long.

Leafs up 2 games to 1.

Re: 2017 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs

With the Ducks' furious comeback, all 4 games go to OT tonight.

Edit: first time since 1985 there's been 4 OT games on one day.

Re: 2017 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs

Fiala with the OT winner for Nashville after a weak giveaway by Hossa.

And the Ducks complete the comeback to win 5-4

Damn, no lead was safe tonight.

Harkens back to 2011 and 2012, only this time they don't have nearly as bad of a roster. Games like last night aren't the problem - the series was lost in the first two games.

Re: 2017 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs

Paul Stastny is close to being able to return to the Blues' lineup:

Stastny joins Blues for practice
by Chris Pinkert / St. Louis Blues
1:29 PM - Tuesday 4/18/2017

ST. LOUIS - Paul Stastny joined his teammates for practice on Tuesday morning at Scottrade Center, just one day ahead of a potential series-clinching game against the Minnesota Wild.

Blues Head Coach Mike Yeo said Stastny remains day-to-day and did not elaborate on his status for Wednesday's Game 4 (8:30 p.m. CT, FSMW, NBCSN, KMOX). Yeo did say he thought Stastny looked good in his first day back on the ice with teammates. "I thought he was skating well," Yeo said. "He was involved in every drill and certainly conditioning didn't look like it was an issue. Timing and execution didn't look like it was an issue either."

Stastny sustained a lower-body injury during the March 21 game in Colorado, playing just 3 minutes and 51 seconds before leaving in the first period. He was labeled week-to-week and has missed 13 games - 10 in the regular season and the first three playoff games.

At the time of his injury, Stastny ranked fourth on the club in scoring with 40 points (18 goals, 22 assists) and was the team's best face-off man, winning 55.7 percent.

"He plays in every situation. He's on the first power play and is big for face-offs, too," said Blues captain Alex Pietrangelo. "Obviously (Vladimir Sobotka) has come in and helped in that department, but Paul is a big guy that takes a lot of big face-offs in big situations. "We're awaiting his return… we're excited to see him out there with us."
Getting Vladimir Sobotka onto the roster for the season finale was a coup that paid immediate dividends, but also getting Stastny back this soon? Wow. I envy the problem Yeo will have trying to fit him into the lineup.

Re: 2017 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs

Last year was understandable, the blue line beyond the top 3 were just not good.

This year, the roster looked much better and I thought Oduya and Campbell shored that up. But, overall, the whole team just looks slower than Nashville. How they fix it is a mystery without any cap room ... maybe it is as simple as Nashville is playing really well and the Hawks are not this series and next year the young forwards have a year under their belts ... but they are back to the blue line problem again next season. It will be interesting to see what they can do given the cap situation.

Re: 2017 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs

The Hawks blue line is toast, they just look old. Oduya and Campbell are finished. Seabrook has been bad for awhile now, he was just able to turn it on during the playoffs, and the decline of Keith this series has been jarring.

I'm guessing Toews is injured.

Re: 2017 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs

Bruins got hosed on a lame OT penalty call, and gave up the goal. I still think they can get by Ottawa, but I don't see them going past that. Too banged up, especially on D--and Chara's too old to play as many minutes as he plays. And Rask doesn't seem to ever steal any big games.

Draisaitl's spear to Tierney's junk was not very nice.

Stastny is desperately needed for faceoffs. That's good news.

Huge save by Wilson and swing there....so close to 2-2, but 3-1 now. Holtby does not look good.

Only the Caps can manage to commit 2 penalties in 2 seconds with 6 seconds left in a period in a playoff game.

Re: 2017 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs

I guess I haven't watched much hockey the last couple years after I cut most of my cable--when the hell did they start going back and video reviewing offsides after a goal was scored? I can see if it immediately affected the play, but it seems kind of crazy when it's a minute or more later, and there's been about 10 passes and five shots on net since they got it into the zone.

It's insane. They need to drop that.
