Wow, that is really odd timing

Good luck with that wish list. Surprised it didn't include Dean Smith, John Wooden and James Naismith as well.

Re: 2017 NCAA College Basketball Off-Season and Coaching Carousel Thread

I just saw on ESPN that he's 49. 49! Like the same age as me. I thought it had to be a mistake.
I seriously thought he was in his mid-sixties.

I would have never guessed 49 either.

Re: 2017 NCAA College Basketball Off-Season and Coaching Carousel Thread

That's good to see. Can't imagine that happening had Creighton not been able to move into the Big East.

And here are the ACC/B1G challenge matchups:

Northwestern at Georgia Tech
Duke at Indiana
Notre Dame at Michigan State
Miami at Minnesota
Penn State at NC State
Boston College at Nebraska
Michigan at North Carolina
Clemson at Ohio State
Louisville at Purdue
Florida State at Rutgers
Maryland at Syracuse
Wisconsin at Virginia
Iowa at Virginia Tech
Illinois at Wake Forest

We won't know for sure for another month or so, but it looks a lot like Louisville will be stripped of their 2012 Final Four appearance and their 2013 National Championship due to the prostitution recruiting scandal. I think that sucks Big Time.

Nope. It's on the calendar for 11/29 right here in sunny Bloomington:

Bucknell is playing one of the top-5 OOC schedules this season. They play at UNC and Maryland as well. Definitely going to attend the Maryland game.

Another coach nearing the end: Rollie Massimino has entered into hospice care, per this link.

Re: 2017 NCAA College Basketball Off-Season and Coaching Carousel Thread

So I just checked the full 2017-2018 Kansas Basketball Schedule. Sure, they face a tough game against Kentucky in Chicago early and then (maybe?) a challenge vs Syracuse in Miami and they get a tour of the second-teir Pac 12 schools as they play Washington in KC, Stanford in Sacramento and Arizona State at home. But man, they've got a shit-ton of cupcakes on their schedule this year.
After exhibition games against tiny Kansas schools Pittsburgh St and Fort Hayes State, they host Tennessee St, South Dakota St, Texas Southern, Oakland and Toledo. After playing their first true Road game at Nebraska on 12/16, they host Omaha -- OMAHA! I didn't even know there was a school called Omaha.

C'mon Bill, you gotta step up your scheduling. You've been in the Hall of Fame for like a month and you're half way to becoming Jim Boeheim already.

Man! I know or have been on campus for half of those cupcakes. I went to Missouri Southern in Joplin for my undergraduate work - we played Fort Hays and Pittsburg (no "h") St regularly. Pittsburg is only a 40 minute drive from campus - the MSSU Lions and Pitt St Gorillas are each others' natural rivals. I interviewed at South Dakota St (in Brookings) when I was considering going there for my graduate work, I presented work on the campus of UNO (Nebraska-Omaha, as it was called back then) during my junior year.

None of them were Div I. Compared to KU - yeah, they're all creampuffs. It's just surprising that I'm personally familiar with so many of them.
