Not familiar with Hopkins, but glad the Huskies moved quickly. Maybe a well-regarded assistant from a major program will be able to keep some of the recruits.

As a fan of an opposing Big XII school, let me just say "Go Doug!". Come on T. Boone, open up that checkbook and sign him up for a decade.

Apparently he is in line for a new broadcasting job and in very real danger of losing it because of this nonsense.

More bad news for OK St, after saying he was leaning toward staying, Jawun Evans declares for the draft.

Kind of funny that Evans was considered a heavy Illinois lean until John Groce for some reason tried to make a run at Jalen Brunson when everyone knew Brunson's dad wanted to head back east. If Groce lands Evans he probably still has a job and Underwood is still at OK St.

Adidas is reportedly willing to pay Alford's buyout from UCLA which is $7 million.

Good Lord, why? And why was his buy out so high in the first place? It's not like he's a Hall of Fame caliber coach.

I thought part of Hopkins' leaving was that Boeheim was waffling on retirement, and he figured if he left, Boeheim wouldn't "feel pressure."

Randomly, Washington's AD is fairly new, and she's hiring for her program's second most important position. Assuming she wouldn't go completely on her own, who does an AD consult for this kind of hire? Alumni and/or people associated with the school? Independent consultants?

She probably consulted a coaching search firm which finds candidates and recommends them to the school.

And in coaching news, JTIII has been fired from Georgetown. 2 straight losing seasons and a bunch of underperforming NCAA tournament performances in the last decade was his undoing.

Not really keen on the rumors of Patrick Ewing or Tommy Amaker being the front-runner s for the job though.

Are there any more John Thomspons out there looking for a college coaching job?

Thanks, I figured there was something like that. Sports headhunting is too big a business for there not to be.
