Re: 2016 Legends Fantasy Football League

Haven't started 2017 Legends thread quite yet. Getting Auction going as well.

Quick question for you all- I've been debating running this league again. What I would really like to do is make the Legends league a Keeper League. It's something I've wanted to try for a while and since we already have a standard league that lwhy runs (all stars) and an auction that I run- I thought it would be fun to convert this league into a Keeper League.

Thoughts? Would anyone be open to this?

Re: 2016 Legends Fantasy Football League

Would it be a keep a couple of players league or keep your whole roster? The only problem I would see is if we have a declining number of owners each year. Ex have to go from a 12 team league to a 10 team league. Also, I think it would be hard to get new owners to come in where they don't get to pick their team from scratch.

It would be 2-4 keepers. We usually only have turnover of 1-3 teams each year. I've talked to a few buddies who are in or have run keeper leagues and adding replacement teams has never been a problem. I believe replacement teams inherit the few keeper players....

Ok I would be up for it since I've never been in a keeper league before. Would we forfeit draft picks for every player we keep? I know some leagues do that....

That all would be discussed if enough owners would be down for a keeper league...

I'd love a DVDTalk keeper league.

Re: 2016 Legends Fantasy Football League

Would be open to it. Does everyone have to keep the same number of players, or would each owner get to decide how many of those keeper spots to keep open? Say I only want 2 keepers instead of 3, or only 1. Would that be an option?

Re: 2016 Legends Fantasy Football League

My only keeper league went belly up last year so I'd be up for it.

Re: 2016 Legends Fantasy Football League

Including myself I've heard from 8 out of 12 so far that would be up for trying keeper so I say let's give it a go. After doing some research it looks like ESPN only has one option for keepers. Keeper rounds go before snake starts and if someone doesn't want to keep 2 players for instance- then they would have dips on players in regular player pool.

I would say we either do 1 or 2 keepers to start. That means that potentially you could keep that many players from this upcoming draft in the 2018 draft.

I am going to do a little more research tonight and tomorrow night but in the meantime- feel free to discuss thoughts here.

So the idea is that we'd be drafting this year and potentially keeping those players for next year, rather than retroactively keeping players from last year, correct (because last year we didn't draft with keepers in mind)?

Correct.

I don't think it would be fair to allow keepers from last year being that no one drafted with an intention of keeping any players. So this would be the first draft that would determine what keepers you would have to choose from to protect for the 2018 draft.

Great, that makes sense. And that way last year's team doesn't factor into whether we want to make this a keeper league or not.
