Re: 2014 NFL Draft - May 8-10

I think the Jaguars are going to draft Manziel... he'll be the early shocker.

I pray, pray the Lions don't go WR until the 3rd round.

Re: 2014 NFL Draft - May 8-10

My draft party is all set. I don't see how Clowney isn't the 1st pick. Possible the Texans pick him for another team and then trade him later. As for Manziel, I've seen 2 mocks today that had him going to the Jags before the Browns could get to him.

In a local mock, I saw the Cards taking Carr. While I think we need a QB, I'd much, much rather have a pass rusher than a QB.

Re: 2014 NFL Draft - May 8-10

I think Manziel is going to turn into an NFL bust...maybe not right out of the gate, but once defenses figure him out (or perhaps just when they figure out how to best hit him).

Therefore, he's almost certainly going to be drafted by the Browns.

Re: 2014 NFL Draft - May 8-10

Cards run a 3-4? Slim pickings as far as pass rushers go. At #20, maybe OLB Shazier or Kony Ealy. There's also guys like Dee Ford and DeMarcus Lawrence but they are considered 2nd round targets.

Cowboys also need pass rushers. Donald and Barr are both targets but I think they are both gone at #16. Fallback option could be OT Zach Martin or trade back. Heck, I'm not ruling out a WR if hey can't trade back and someone like Beckam is there.

According to @JayGlazer the Texans are asking for three first rounders and a second rounder in exchange for the top pick tomorrow night.

Fortunately the Skins don't have a 1st rounder to give and they are the only ones stupid enough to do it.

In other words, they don't want to trade the pick.

i think it's obvious that a team is going to shoot for the moon and then negotiate down from there. that they say they want and what they would obviously get are clearly two different things.

Why are Barr, Evans, Lewan, and Matthews on the poll? Those guys have exactly zero chance of being #1. Bridgewater also is not going to be #1.

There is alot of chatter that the Texans could go Robinson at #1. It would be the unsexiest pick of all, but it does fill a real need for the team. RT has been awful the last 2 years.

It's not like the Patriots have really needed the draft lately.

Sure, but a starting position like that doesn't help.

No there isn't. The only first page google result is Robinson himself saying that he wants Houston to take him. I've been listening to NFL Radio and ESPN all week and never heard this mentioned. Nothing on preview draft shows either.

There is no way this is happening.

Re: 2014 NFL Draft - May 8-10

Clowney goes #1 unless someone is crazy enough to meet the Texans demands -- Atlanta most likely. Nobody else has had this type of "elite" label and nobody else is worthy of #1 this year.

Re: 2014 NFL Draft - May 8-10

I think Clowney goes #1, I'm just not sold that it'll be to the Texans. I can see them trading down to 4-6 range, picking up a few more picks. No one will meet their asking price for the pick, but they'll still bring in a good haul.

I think Manziel is the first QB taken off the board. Though I hope he somehow ends up on the Cowboys. Because ESPN won't stop talking about it and that'll be funny.

Bortles will be drafted soon after Manziel but they'll be the only QB's in the top 15. Bridgewater will fall to the late 1st round and when the Jets are picking at 18 everyone will assume they'll take Bridgewater, I'll have multiple mini strokes during that time, ultimately ending with them taking a receiver or corner and me not killing myself.

I think the Raiders, Jets, Steelers, Eagles and 49ers will all take receivers in the first round.

What about the Panthers? They desperately need a WR.

You should be thrilled if they can get Bridgewater at 18. His fall due to GloveGate has been one of the sillier things in recent pre-draft history. He's still easily the best QB in the draft at progressing through reads, sidestepping pressure, looking off safeties. His mechanics are very good. He played in a pro-style offense. Accuracy issues? Not in any tape or numbers that I've seen:

Forgot about them. They're drafting ahead of the 49ers so I think they'll grab the last of the 1st round receiver talent. 49ers will either go for another position or trade back out of the first round and get their receiver in the 2nd.

My post wasn't meant as a negative on Bridgewater. I just know that I don't want to deal with any more QB nonsense from the Jets. They made their choice at QB last year, I want them to see it through. Geno didn't do much last year but he did enough to justify a second chance.

They have a lot of other holes to fill, they should address those. Give Geno this season and if he's not the guy, at least they'll have other talent in place while they look for that franchise QB.

Then don't vote for them.

I have to say that of all the poll-bitching that goes on, it's pretty rare for the complaint to be too many options.

I live in the Eat Valley and would like to see a QB picked up if they can. I have no way in Stanton or Lindley backing up Palmer. Plus I assume Palmer has / good yrs left and that's it
