Super Bowl XLVIII: Denver Broncos vx. Seattle Seahawks, February 2, 2014

AFC Champion Denver Broncos vs. NFC Champion Seattle Seahawks

Broadcast on FOX (kickoff around 6:28 pm Eastern Standard Time)

Current betting line as of 19 January 2014: Broncos by 1.5 (might as well be pick'em game), over/under 48 points.

A huge factor this year will be the weather at game time. If the long range forecast is correct, it will be in the 20's with a chance of snow; that favors the Seahawks, a more "weatherproof" team than the Broncos (Peyton Manning does not play well in cold weather).

Hope no one DVR'd one of the games and had the outcome spoiled by the thread title.

It sure will look weird seeing people write Super Bowl L in two years

That line is going to move towards the Denver side in a day or two. People love Peyton and I bet folks will be a little skittish about counting on a young, inexperienced Seahawks team far away from their home stadium. Thinking about placing my bet soon before the line moves, but I'd feel better about Denver's chances if I knew a reliable weather report for that day.

If the Broncos don't win 65-10 the Super Bowl will be a massive failure.

We had enough nailbiters during the regular season and we need a good 90's Super Bowl buttwhipping again since it has been a while.

Denver is closer to New Jersey than Seattle is to New Jersey.

But seriously, is there any advantage to being the "home" team at a Super Bowl?

Possibly the only plus is you get to wear your 'home' colors. I remember the damn Cowboys always chose their road "whites' because their home colors sucked.

I read a comment recently from someone who believes the NFL will think that calling it "Super Bowl L" will be too obtuse for the public and will switch to standard numbers at that point (and continue to use them from then on).

Oh yeah.

That makes sense.

Seattle 42
Denver 3

The AFC is the home team on even-numbered years, the NFC on odd-numbered years.

Montee Ball:

3 years ago: Big Ten Champions, Rose Bowl
2 years ago: Big Ten Champions, Rose Bowl
1 year ago: Big Ten Champions, Rose Bowl
This year: AFC Champions, Super Bowl

Nice little run.

A world where Eli has more rings than Peyton makes no sense. Go Broncos.

Generally, it is. This year, however, there are TWO home locker rooms (the Jets and Giants both have their own) plus two visiting team locker rooms (which will likely be used by the media or the halftime crew). my guess is that the AFC Champion Broncos will use the Jets' digs, and the NFC Champion Seahawks will use the Giants'.

At the Super Bowl, the home team gets the use of the home locker room, choice of jersey, and choice of sideline. The visiting team gets to call the coin flip and gets introduced first.
