I have a feeling the Knicks will be mediocre at best this season. I hope I'm wrong. If they do have a mediocre season then I wouldn't mind if Melo packed it up and left so the Knicks could rebuild again.

Miami and Brooklyn are obviously the favorites coming out of the East.

Considering the ages of it's stars, I think Brooklyn has at best a 2 year window to compete for a title.

Miami the favorite, sure. But it's FAR from obvious that Brooklyn is the #2 squad. Are you forgetting the Pacers and Bulls?

I think Indy and Chicago have something to say about that.

heat pummeling the bulls...I'm not sure if the pacers are the #2 in the east, but they might be the only one with a real chance at beating the heat in a 7 game series.

pacer fans had a collective heart attack when hibbert went down tonight holding his knee and then was taken to the locker room. He was back at the bench at the end of the game, so appears ok.

How many games is the NBA season? Guess it doesn't matter it's over already. Just give the Heat the championship and Lebron the MVP. One game on opening day means everything.

Re: 2013-14 NBA Regular Season Thread

my first statement wasn't really tied to the 2nd, more of just a score update. I would have said the pacers were the most likely candidate to beat the heat in a series last week too. That line was more a response to DJariya's post above.

all 3 of those teams are constructed to beat the Heat; everyone knows the blueprint and all are at least potentially capable of it (although it's yet to be seen if the Nets can perform). None of those teams were constructed to beat each other, however, which makes the #2-4 battle kinda interesting.

But yes, of those teams, I'd day the Pacers have the best shot to beat the Heat, but that's primarily because we know that they have already come very close.

Lakers are blowing out the Clips. Lakers bench is destroying them.

That's probably going to be the highlight of the entire season for me. Clippers starters got their ass whooped by Laker garbage time.

It might be the highlight of the entire Lakers season for everyone. I don't expect many games like this and don't expect them to contend. It should be a fun kickback who cares type of year.

No pressure.

But it is sweet to beat the Flop City Clippers and their banner covering selfies.

At least a certain fair weather fan won't be spitting up his annoying ass comments every game.

I agree, just look at this year as a no pressure, no expectations season and maybe they'll surprise us and put up some really entertaining games.

That was a fun game to attend. Crowd seemed more into it then any of the games last year and really enjoyed the scrappiness and effort of the bench.

Like either one of us said that anywhere. Sorry if we got your Bulls underoos in a wad.

Re: 2013-14 NBA Regular Season Thread

Regarding the Pacers, i'd be more behind them if I didn't have the same expectations last year and then see them struggle during the regular season before waking up in the playoffs. I'm iffy on them, and curious what they do with Granger.

Re: 2013-14 NBA Regular Season Thread

Hopefully this season should be a more entertaining watch for the Nets. I'm not really expecting a title out of this squad, but I was bored to tears watching this team last year so I'm hoping with the new squad plus a new coach we won't have boring basketball.

If granger can stay healthy, it could make all the difference. If he can come back to somewhere near where he was (and he didn't look that way in the 5 games last year), I'd like to see him lead the 2nd squad and leave lance with the starters. That could really be a handful for teams to defend.
