When was the last time Kobe had single digits in scoring? When he got hurt?

Re: 2013-14 NBA Regular Season Thread

Yeah Kobe was rusty and very tentative. I read this was the 1st time ever that none of the Lakers starters had double digits in scoring.

1971-72 Baltimore Bullets 38-44 First Place. That year the Lakers won 33 in a row so that pretty much messed up the rest of the leagues W-L records.

With the Raptors, I think it's not just "tank mode" (though the strong 2014 draft class helps), it's also "clean house and long-term salary" mode.

No, he scored in double digits that game. He scored no points in a game against the Pacers last March and 4 pts in a game against Phx in Feb.

Guilty as charged. Seriously, though, it took all of 10 seconds to get his espn profile and look up the game log from last year.

Steve Nash doesn't think he can come back. He has nerve damage in his back.

With Farmar out 1 month and Nash likely done, they need to sign a backup PG badly.

Re: 2013-14 NBA Regular Season Thread

While I'd hate to see anyone, let alone a class act like Nash, have to hang it up due to injury, that pretty much cleans up the salary cap situation a bit if true.

With the contract Kobe signed, they need that high draft pick this year badly. They don't get one the next year, right? While I'll never condone tanking, if there was any time to do it, it's now, and they have the perfect coach/scapegoat to do it (although the Leastern Conference makes that really tough to do, especially this year).

Speaking of which, lottery balls go to the teams who miss out on the playoffs, right? So even if the 5 through 8 seeds of the East have a terrible record, they're still behind the 9 through whatever teams in the West, right?

I'm going to stop being surprised at whatever Sacramento does at this point. They just traded for Derrick Williams, their franchise guy is Cousins (admittedly, they had little choice in the matter), they're paying Landry an insane amount of money, and presumably they're still going to play Thomas (or just go without a point guard altogether). So why not add Gay to that mix? I'm really curious to see what the local reaction is, if it's really getting people excited about the team.

Re: 2013-14 NBA Regular Season Thread

I just saw the news, but it looks like the Clippers signed Stephen Jackson.

I was watching Sons of Anarchy and missed the Lakers game tonight against the Suns. I saw they lost 114-108. 0-2 with Kobe. Yeah the chemistry is screwed.

Just looking at the box score, they got Kobe back, but they have zero depth at guard right now. Let's face it. Blake is a decent backup, but a shitty starter.

Re: 2013-14 NBA Regular Season Thread

Good to see the NBA Thread here back in action talking about the .500 Lakers team.

On a relevant NBA note, the Heat vs Pacers was a great game on NBA Network last night. Don't know why that wasn't a national ESPN or TNT game??? Hibbert was a beast in the middle last night, as he is the only chance of the Pacers beating the Heat in a 7 game series. Really looking forward to this series in May.

Agreed. Last night he just took over. Its hard to be a Dubs fan on the east coast but staying up late to watch that ending was worth it.

Ughhh, Steve Blake out at least 6 weeks with a torn elbow ligament.

Looks like Kobe will have to play the point and possibly Meeks at the 2.

Who would have thought the starter and both backup PGs would be out with injuries.

Re: 2013-14 NBA Regular Season Thread

So much for being a playmaker.

I've noticed that Kobe's game always sucks ass anytime he let's his offense take a backseat and tries to get more passes in. He's not fucking Magic Johnson. 7 turnovers tonight. He's a scoring guard, not a playmaker.

This was probably one of the weakest Lakers teams in the last 10 years. Now with 3 PGs out due to injury, they fucking stink. There is really nothing realistically the team can do trade wise to make it better at this point.

Hell, why don't they just re-sign Darius Morris? He's probably super cheap and he made a few decent starts last season.

Re: 2013-14 NBA Regular Season Thread

All is right with the world as the lakers move oh-so-close to .500.
Reports coming out that Mitch is now considering trading away Pau (as if he hasn't been considering it for the past 3-4 years). If you can get anything decent for him without taking back a bad contract, why on earth would you not?
