Re: MLB Friday, May 4, 2012
Because he opitimizes everything that is wrong with today's society and culture... greed. He had the perfect situation in St. Louis; a championship team, a great community, great fans who were ready to erect a statue in his honor...and all he cared about was money. I know it's all about the money with most of today's athletes, but his situation really stank of it.
How much money do you f**king need...is a couple more million a year really going to have make a dramatic difference in your life when you are making 20 million per year? I just see the growing and overwhelming emphasis on greed and materialism in this country and I shake my head....I guess someone like Pujols, who had the perfect situation in St Louis, just hit my sore spot . Anyway, he will start hitting soon and will wind up the season with decent stats, so this is only a momentary enjoyment for me.

Yeah, the Angel's lack of production has been stunning. Poor Ervin Santana became the first pitcher in major league history to start five consecutive games, with his team being shut out in each game, and is now 0-6. You get the feeling if he threw another no-hitter it might not be enough for him to notch a "W" at this point.

It all evened out since the umpire blew that call at home plate when Ruiz's foot wasn't even touching the plate on that forceout at home that cost the Nat's a run.

outside of Tim McCarver and Joe Morgan, there's not anyone I want to listen to less calling a game than Eric Karros. God he's annoying as hell.

Blown save for the Big Potato on Dunn's 8th HR of the year. Boy what a difference a year makes.
Santiago needs to not be in the 9th anymore. Reed nailed it down, but apparently Sale is going back to the bullpen to close. Not sure how I feel about that. He was a pretty good starter but apparently they're worried about his elbow. So I guess we're down a starter. |

*No-hitter alert*
Felix Hernandez has one tonight against the Twins. I know it's only after 2 innings right now, but you'd have to think his odds are good at pulling it off. ![]() |

Re: MLB Friday, May 4, 2012
The Braves overcame a 6-0 deficit against Halladay and the Phillies and won a few days ago. They came back from 5-0 last night and won. Tonight, they were down 6-0 and have come back to tie the game at 8.

Re: MLB Friday, May 4, 2012
The Braves are now up 11-8 with two on and one out. Where in the world did this offense come from? The starting pitching sucks out the gate, then the offense just won't give in. Wow.

Re: MLB Friday, May 4, 2012
If I'm counting it right, the Braves now lead in runs scored on the season. Pretty cool. If only the pitching would tighten up...

Re: MLB Friday, May 4, 2012
The key for the Braves seems to be Bourn at the top of the lineup. He started off slow this year, but is now hitting nearly .340. But as you said, while their offense has been surprising, the pitching has been as well for performing below expectations.

Re: MLB Friday, May 4, 2012
Bourne has been huge for the Braves lately. He will probably have a career year that will keep the Braves from attempting to deal with Boras.

Re: MLB Friday, May 4, 2012
Sorry for psoting one more comment about this but I am still perplexed why someone would ask why.
Would you ask why if someone told you they were hoping LeBron James would fail when he went to Miami? Not counting that ill conceived special by LeBron, Pujols decision was worse than LeBron's...at least LeBron can make the claim that he was trying to win a championship and was just trying to find the best situation to make that happen. Pujols simply wanted the most money he can get, didn't matter that he was leaving a championship team in the perfect baseball town where he was worshipped....money was king. Yet somehow Pujolds is given a pass and LeBron is vilified. Anyway, I won't comment anymore...just amazing to me how greed has become normalized, accepted and sometimes even applauded in this country.
