Re: MLB Wednesday, May 2, 2012

And Weaver gets the No-hitter. It's the first no-no in Anaheim since the Langston-Witt combined No-hitter back in 1990. The last complete game no-hitter in Anaheim by an Angel was Nolan Ryan in 1975.

Joe Cowley of the White Sox threw a complete game no-hitter in Anaheim in 1986 as a member of the Chicago White Sox. It would be the last win of his career.

I figured the odds of Weaver finishing it off were pretty solid. Jerome Williams threw a 3-hit shutout against the Twins yesterday after all.

The Twinkies battled against him in the 9th. A couple of loud outs and a strikeout with a couple of borderline strike calls.

10 putouts for Ichiro, one off the ML RF record set by Tony Armas

Mariners first tweeted that he had 10 assists, which would be pretty amazing

I knew it was meant to be when Trumbo cleanly fielded the bunt down the 3rd base line.

What in the world has gotten into Heath Bell? He's been abnormally wild of late. Tonight he comes in and gives up 3 straight hits before being yanked with the game still in jeopardy.

Re: MLB Wednesday, May 2, 2012

Good lord the Giants are bad when they have people on base. It's frustrating.

The bottom of the 9th was super silly/exciting with the Giants tying the game up to go into extras. Problem was they gave it up at the top of the 10th.

Marlins: 3 runs off 5 hits
Giants: 2 runs off 10 hits

Do you listen to Gardy's post-game reports?

Nope. Did he say the same thing?

By the way, I find it a little ironic that you highlighted the Cards/Twins run differentials in the standings today.

That's not irony, that's fitting.

And Gardy always says the same thing. (they were battling)

But why weren't you updating us from the ballpark?

Kidding--awesome that you were there.

This happens the day after I go to the game.

Still awesome though. I hope this lights a fire under their butts.

They have another series against the Twins in a few days, their fire will stay hot for a bit.

That is pretty cool slop! I got close last Sunday at the White Sox/Red Sox game as Floyd took into the 7th. Oh well.

I remember Cowley. I thi k he had nine walks in that game. He was traded to the phillies after that and that's why I remember him never getting another win in his career.

That Phils/Braves game last night was an all-timer.
Halladay 107-0 with a four run lead.
Something like 46-4 when he has a lead of any kind with the Phils.
First time since 1969 they lost when scoring 12 runs or more.
Phils have won their last 111 games in a row when they have scored 12+ runs
Most RBI's is a game ever by a Phillie catcher with seven.

The NL East is 5-5 last ten except for the Miami's who are 3-7.
