Really happy all games will be on live in their entirety.

Should be an interesting year, with some "new" teams expected to make good runs (STL, NASH, NYR).

Doubleheader on NBC this Sunday? Have they done that before?

Sort of surprised to see BOS/WSH on NBC twice, you'd think they'd throw CHI or NYR on there once.

Seems like they're treating NHLN as the last resort since it is airing most of the FLA/NJ series. I wonder what games they'll actually have US broadcast teams covering, and which will be CBC/TSN feeds.

The NBC DH is new. There will also be a DH the following Sunday (probably PIT/PHI and BOS/WSH if they go 6, with NSH/DET as the next choice).

As for NYR on NBC, no way NBC would have a game vs. Ottawa on the main network. If the Rangers had drawn the Caps, that would have drawn the NBC treatment for sure. NBC priorities are:
1) a game featuring 2 of the more TV-friendly teams (basically: NYR, PIT, PHI, WSH, BOS, DET, CHI, BUF)
2) a game featuring 1 of those teams vs. another American team
3) a game featuring 2 American teams

PIT/PHI will certainly be treated as the marquee series and get Doc, Edzo (when available) and McGuire in a full NBC production.

WAS/BOS will be treated #2, a full NBC production and given that it's on different days from PIT/PHI will also likely get Doc, Edzo (when available), and McGuire.

Strader/Engblom are mostly working DET/NSH so that will likely be a full NBC production.

I expect to see RSN simulcasts for NJ/FLA (since I think that's what TSN is using).

I expect a number of CBC simulcasts for LA/VAN.

Then for the other 3 series, you could get a mix of things. I think Forsland is calling some games, so those would be NBC productions. Comcast owns the CSNs that cover the Blackhawks and Sharks so could see simulcasting there.

Between him, Doc, and Strader (who I think does a pretty good job), all the good games would usually be covered.

Wonder how much it costs NBC to pick up the Canadian feeds?

That would be great. The Thorne/Clement combo at ESPN was the best, imo.

Nervous about the first round. Probably less pressure on the Sharks this time around since they're the underdog.

Probably little to nothing....they probably have it in their deal with the NHL built in, and CBC/TSN very well could be taking NBC-produced feeds for certain games.

Eh, not that comfortable with Washington in the first round---Bruins matched up better against Ottawa. Still, I think the Bs playoff experience from last year is going to help a lot. I don't think they're a clear favorite to win the cup again, but they've got a pretty well rounded team. They're going to miss Horton though, and I hope one of their under-the-radar players steps up for them with some big post-season goals like Ryder did last year.

Linesmen having a tough night in Pittsburgh. There was a questionable wave off of an icing call on the Pens third goal, and then Briere was clearly offsides on the Flyers goal.

Pens need to pick it up, Flyers have been pushing this whole period.
