Re: 2012 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs
That's just a dumbass play by a goalie in that situation. Not that it mattered with almost no time left.

I don't follow hockey, but
to the Coyotes. The more they win, the more likely they are to stick around in town.

Still can't get over the Caps giving up that goal with 6.6 seconds left....and I'm not even a Caps fan.

![]() Shane Doan deserves this...and more. But the Kings will be so tough to beat. Maybe no one will watch, but I think it's going to be a great series.

Re: 2012 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs
I said the Coyotes would beat the Preds because of Mike Smith. I guess I was half right.
Honestly, I didn't think the Kings would make it past Vancouver let alone make it to the WCF. Oh and Phoenix scares me. They always play the Kings well. Should be a fun series ![]() |

Re: 2012 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs
As a Flyers fan, I think Giroux should have been suspended, because there is no place in the NHL for head hunting. BUT....I think the decision is bullshit because Shanahan is so damn inconsistent this playoffs. Malkin had atleast 3 of the same type of head shots in the previous series and got nothing. Neal has 2 head shots in one play in game 3 and only gets 1 game? And of course Weber does the turnbuckle WWE move and gets 0 games???
If the NHL were consistent, I would have no problem with this suspension, but they are all over the place with these suspensions in the playoffs, I honestly don't know what to expect after every illegal hit. |

Re: 2012 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs
The suspensions really need to be more standardized, and tougher. Head shot? First offender? 5 games. And give a fine for playoff suspensions also. How idiotic that the longer Phoenix goes in the playoffs, the less it costs Torres.
The NHLPA I imagine is the biggest problem...it's just sad how they seemingly defend the guys doling out the cheap hits more than the guys being injured. |

when it was either Edzo or Pierre make the comment with 6 or 7 minutes that this Caps team is different under Hunter what with their ability to hold 3rd period playoff leads. Nice mush, douchebag. At least my PHX Series bet pays. Sort of a gift - even odds were offered after G1, so I jumped on that.

Hard to believe that was the same team that took out the Pens.

Re: 2012 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs
You aren't kidding. As soon as the Pens went down, I already wanted a Western Conference Cup winner, but knowing that it won't be Philly makes me breathe a sigh of relief. Now if the Rags can finish the Caps, I can focus exclusively on pulling for the Kings or Coyotes. (I wouldn't mind seeing the Kings win it at all, but seeing Shane Doan hoist the Stanley Cup would be an incredible hockey moment and a great moment for a great guy.)

Re: 2012 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs
It just shows you how bad the Pens were. It actually makes me feel a bit worse knowing how easily the Devils took the Flyers out. I hope that Bylsma and Shero address the defensive side of the team over the offseason.

Re: 2012 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs
Kings/Rangers is the only acceptable finals at this stage. fuck NJ...and fuck Phoenix. they don't deserve a franchise, haven't supported it for a single day since it arrived, and it only remains because of Bettman's misguided stubbornness to make southern teams viable even if it means the league shoveling money at them for years on end. They can go fuck themselves.
Original 6 is always easy to root for unless their name ends in hawks ![]()

Re: 2012 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs
Quote:
This was text-book Devils (not as boring as the trap days of the 1990's), as they totally frustrated the Flyers, and the Flyers couldn't get any scoring chances on Brodeur. His puck-handling prevented them from dumping and chasing, so they were playing a neutral zone game with the Devils, and that is the last thing you want to do with that team. As a Flyers fan, I'm suprised they went this far this year as I thought they'd take a step back after trading Carter/Richards. We have a great future with Schenn and Courturier who are 20 and 19 respectively, along with Giroux becoming a superstar at 24 years old, this team will compete for the next 5-10 years. But the defense is getting old, and Homer has to address it in the offseason. And who knows the state of mind of Bryzgalov each year..... |
