That was a sick night of fights. That Barboza knee. Shogun looked 25. I was pretty impressed tonight.

Easily better than the last PPV. Also why is Bethe Correia fighting on main cards? Shes terrible and all her fights are terrible.

I only got to see the main event, but Gastellum despite beating a clearly washed up Vitor, is legit.

That is what I am still wondering...was it a great win for Gastellum or just Victor wayyyyyyyyyyy past his prime.

Re: The Official MMA Thread - Part IX

The London card this afternoon was pretty awesome.

Manuwa walk off KO (1:58 in)

Marc Diakiese sick KO

Gunnar Nelson also dropped Jouban with a straight right and subbed him, and Brad Pickett was KO'd via headkick.

I assume they feed Shogun to Manuwa.

Re: The Official MMA Thread - Part IX

Manuwa asked for the title shot after DC and Rumble fight. I don't think Bones will be ready, so I think Manuwa deserves it. 17-2 with 16 KOs? He's 37 already too.

Re: The Official MMA Thread - Part IX

Jones can fight in July. If Cormier wins, I think Bones gets the next fight. If Rumble wins it'll probably be a rubber match or Jones. Plus Manuwa is only riding a 2 fight win streak. I don't think a title shot is in his immediate future.

Bellator is putting on another PPV with Wanderlei Silva vs Chael Sonnen as the main event. Looks like it'll be at MSG.

Re: The Official MMA Thread - Part IX

This piece of shit should have been convicted. Not sure how it was deadlocked on attempted murder.

War Machine Convicted On 29 Counts in GF Beating Hung Jury on Attempted Murder
Quote:
Former MMA fighter War Machine dodged conviction for the attempted murder of his ex-gf, Christy Mack -- but was nailed on 29 other charges, including sexual assault and battery.

The jury came back deadlocked on 2 counts of attempted murder in the 2014 brutal beating of Mack and a male friend who was in her apartment the day of the attack. War Machine was found guilty though of coercion, dissuading a witness, battery by strangulation, kidnapping ... and multiple counts of sexual assault.

The fighter and his attorneys had turned down a plea deal that could have put him away for 18 to 40 years. His sentencing is scheduled for June.

No surprise, Fedor vs. Mitrione is happening there as well.

This is going to wind up being a card that could have taken place in PRIDE 15 years ago.

BJ Penn is gonna fight Dennis Siver at FW. I guess he didn't get the memo that the sport retired him 7 years ago.

Rampage Jackson came in at 253 lbs for his fight with King Mo. LOL.

Sergei Kharitonov had a sick walk off uppercut KO tonight.

The Bellator PPV is getting pretty interesting. I won't order the PPV myself, but I'm gonna have to find a pub showing it. If it was Wandy vs Fedor, I'd order it in a heartbeat though.

Re: The Official MMA Thread - Part IX

Man, at least on paper, UFC 210 is almost as bad as UFC 208. The main and co main events are the only ones that interest me, so I'll probably head over to a bar around 10:30 or 11 to catch those.

I think DC beats Rumble again, and I don't have a clue about Weidman/Mousasi. Think it's a 50/50 shot. I am a fan of both guys, and Mousasi has looked much better recently, but you can't count out Weidman. Forced to choose though, I think Mousasi will take it.

Re: The Official MMA Thread - Part IX

Still plenty of time for the card to get worse.

Brooks/Oliveira is interesting to me just to see how Oliveria does at 155 after they finally forced him to move up. Would be hilarious if he misses weight at LW now.

I hope Rumble sends DC to the Shadow Realm.

Re: The Official MMA Thread - Part IX

I'm going to wrestling on Saturday so I won't be able to watch it live, but the Main and co main are enough that i'll order and DVR it. I can't rationalize missing either fight. I'm super stoked for both. The only other fight I'm interested in is Brooks/Oliveira. Its an interesting fight, both guys are kind of teetering on the edge of will they/won't they be Top 10 fighters. I'm mildly curious to see what Myles Jury looks like. But beyond that its not a very interesting card.

As long as we get to see Jones/Rumble and Jones/Cormier 2, I'm happy with either guy winning. Although it would be pretty wild if Rumble KO's him.

Lawler vs Cowboy confirmed for UFC213 on July 8th. YES.

Werdum vs Overeem is already on that card. Hopefully Cody vs TJ will be the main event.

Gastelum tests positive for weed, his fight vs Silva is off.

Yoel Romero says he'll fight Silva, but only if it's for an interim belt.

Re: The Official MMA Thread - Part IX

So the women's MMA match is off due to one of the women having breast implants which is apparently a no go in New York. Weird since I think Meisha Tate fought in NY before.

1.2 pounds in 2 minutes?
Quote:
Cormier weighed 206.2 at his initial weigh-in -- 1.2 pounds over weight.

He left the room and came back 2 minutes and 24 seconds later ... and somehow, weighed in at 205 exactly. The fight with "Rumble" Johnson is now official.

There is controversy that he was holding himself up a little with the towel. I haven't seen the video yet as I cant view from work.

Wasn't MMA in NY only recently even legalized?
