2011-12 NBA Season Thread
Offseason is officially over. Time to start up a new one and close up that other thread.
Today's games (12/25) Celtics at Knicks (TNT) Heat at Mavericks (ABC) Bulls at Lakers (ABC) Magic at Thunder (ESPN) Clippers at Warriors (ESPN) Mondays games (12/26) Raptors at Cavs Nets at Wizards Bucks at Bobcats Rockets at Magic Pistons at Pacers Thunder at T-Wolves Grizzlies at Spurs Nuggets at Mavericks Hornets at Suns 76ers at Blazers Lakers at Kings Bulls at Warriors Basketball is back. As most of you know it's a condensed 66 game season. The teams will be playing 3 games consecutively throughout this schedule. The Lakers are doing it for their 1st 3 games this season. Enjoy and I'll pop in every so often to chime in. Last edited by DJariya; 12-25-11 at 12:08 PM. |

Re: 2011-12 NBA Season Thread
Dallas looks old and slow.
I'm going to go out on a limb and pick the Heat to win the title this season. |

Saw this on Twitter and it cracked me up. "I thought Eric Dampier had slimed down this season but then I realized that was Vince Carter"

What's does the "bonus" under the scores mean?

Re: 2011-12 NBA Season Thread
![]() I just got home, and saw the Lakers up by one with 20 seconds left. I thought, so the Bulls have a chance to win it. Then I see the Lakers have the ball, and I think "okay, just hold the ball and wait to get fouled." Then I see Gasol fumble the inbound pass away ![]() Same old typical Lakers, and you know what, I'm glad they lost ![]() |

That was a clutch shot by D Rose. But yeah that was a sloppy final minute by the Lakers.

All those missed free throws in the 4th quarter hurt.

Why should I get used to it? I don't see how it's anything "typical" of Laker play or anything to expect.

Re: 2011-12 NBA Season Thread
Plus, I guess Deng traveled? Sure, it was a missed call, but the Lakers shouldn't have turned it over. That and there were up by what 9 or so with 3 miutes left?
Man, it feels so good to not be pissed about a loss. Last year, I'd be in here calling for their heads. While it was impressive they played well without Bynum, you still need to learn to close out games. Not sure why Kobe didn't just hold onto the ball or call timeout. Even if Gasol catches the pass, is he really the guy you want at the line with the game up for grabs? Anyway, ho hum. I bet they get destroyed by Sacto tomorrow. |

Re: 2011-12 NBA Season Thread
You're not a realist, you always expect the worst and always whine about it even when you claim you don't care. A real fan wouldn't be glad that their team lost on opening day.
Jesus, one game in to the season. Same ol' shit. |

Re: 2011-12 NBA Season Thread
I'm not whining, how is that so hard to grasp? I simply said this is what they did right and this is what they did wrong. I didn't say "fuck Kobe, trade his ass" or "fire Kupchak, this team isn't going anywhere."
If anything, a loss could jumpstart them into playing better, hence me being glad they lost. The only thing negative I said was them probably getting destroyed by the Kings tomorrow. If they win, will I come in here and say "OMG, they are title bound"? I don't think so. And I don't always expect the worst. I actually found it funny when people picked the Lakers to miss the playoffs now that I think about it. They lost Odom. Big deal. Shannon Brown? Oh no! They still have Kobe, so who knows. If they win, they win. If they lose, they lose. I'm at (Metta World) peace with it. |

Re: 2011-12 NBA Season Thread
Funny seeing Lakers fan bitch like their team has mired in mediocrity for as long as we can remember. If you have a few bad seasons mixed in with the what 16 championships they have then you don't have much to bitch about. It's not like the NBA has been around for even close to a hundred years and they are inching towards 20 championships in the history of their franchise. Talk about spoiled!

Re: 2011-12 NBA Season Thread
I'm not bitching. Jesus, you guys just don't get it.
Good to see you, Cow. Always nice to see your cute little broken record, and/or "same old story" pictures you post. You and fumanstan should team up, and berate me together. Whoops, you already do. Let me explain again, and I'll try and type clearly so you can understand.... I....am....not.....mad....about....the...loss. I do not hate the Lakers. They do not suck. The same old typical comment was in reference to me seeing this kind of loss before. I will not come in here and say they rule if they win ten straight. I will not say they suck if they lose ten straight. Let's be honest here. If I'd have come in and said "ohh tough loss, oh well get them next time" I would have seen people like fumanstan and his partner in crime Cow saying stuff like "what happened to you saying you don't care about the Lakers this year?" Why do I always have to justify myself to you guys? I'm certainly not feeling too welcome here, and I've been a member for what almost ten years now? So please keep your ridiculous comments and pictures regarding my posts to yourself. Jesus, the only person that hasn't come in here and opened his trap is Arpeggi. At this point I'd welcome xage. |
