Go twins go! Dbacks will a well needed win. Upton is on some kind of tear.

The Twins first inning may be one of the coolest starts to a game since I can remember.

They didn't really have to do much other than stand at the plate and watch ball after ball being thrown in the direction of home plate.

Re: MLB Tuesday, June 21, 2011

Just checked the scoring summary on that Phils-Cards game and the Phils scored 9 runs with 2 outs in the eight.

Looks like 85-90 wins might take the NL Central this year.

Re: MLB Tuesday, June 21, 2011

Can the Cardinals just blowup their lousy ass bullpen already. I would rather have some no names come in there than the shitbags they shuffle out to piss games away. The game wasn't a lock by no means but giving up 9 runs the way they did is unacceptable.

Thanks to an inept bullpen. That is the only way to explain what happened.

Right on cue he hits a home run tonight.

I just noticed that the D'Backs have the X-Man on their team. I don't know why but he's been one of my favorite players since his year with the Mets. Even though he's been mediocre at best, I hope he has a resurgent year coming off the bench.

Yep no other explanation is possible.

The real shame of this game was another good start by Halladay and he had to be pinch hit for with the the Phils losing 1-0 because the Phils weren't hitting again. I think they only had 3 hits into the seventh.
They had first and second with two outs in the seventh and needed a pinch hitter so out comes Halladay and Gload knocks in a tying run.

Don't get me wrong as the Phillies have a great offense but they walked right into a shitstorm of lousy ass pitching in the 8th.

How in God's green earth, does Carl Pavano have 2 career homeruns?

I guess that's the only thing you can bitch about with the Twins as of late.

He did screw up that first inning though, making the first out and all.

I think it was about 20 games ago when the Twins were 16.5 out of first. After tonight, I think it's 7 or 6.5. That's frigging crazy.

Re: MLB Tuesday, June 21, 2011

It's really hard to hear about Adrian Gonzalez hitting .350 with 15 home runs and a ridiculous 68 RBI when Anthony Rizzo has sub .200 batting average. Yeah, Rizzo drove in the winning run tonight, but he's still a long, long way off from being a legit major leaguer (if he ever gets there).

Great trade. The Padres suck hard while the Red Sox are the best team in baseball - and Gonzo helped them get there!

Right now in San Diego the fans are so disgusted at this minor league charade of a team that if they just folded the franchise hardly anyone would care. Can we trade ownership with the Red Sox instead of players??

Can I take a wild guess and assume Ryan Franklin was involved in the debacle?

No, he wasn't involved but former Mariner Miguel Batista faced 3 batters in the inning and retired none of them.

There has to be better options for the Cards either in the minors or just guys who are just languishing in other teams AAA/Majors roster than some of these guys that are in STL.

SD could get quite a haul if they chose to trade Heath Bell to STL.

That's right.

Well, I can also bitch that the guy that makes as much money as the rest of the lineup combined also hit into a DP to end the inning.

Better than Jason Motte, who faced two batters and plunked both of them.

The (somewhat hilarious) play-by-play:

- T. Miller relieved K. McClellan
- J. Rollins flied out to left center
- S. Victorino singled to left center
- C. Utley walked, S. Victorino to second
- J. Motte relieved T. Miller
- R. Howard hit by pitch, S. Victorino to third, C. Utley to second
- P. Polanco hit by pitch, S. Victorino scored, C. Utley to third, R. Howard to second
- B. Tallet relieved J. Motte
- W. Valdez ran for P. Polanco
- R. Ibanez struck out swinging
- B. Francisco hit for D. Brown
- B. Francisco singled to shallow left, C. Utley scored, R. Howard to third, W. Valdez to second
- M. Batista relieved B. Tallet
- C. Ruiz walked, R. Howard scored, W. Valdez to third, B. Francisco to second
- M. Martinez hit for M. Stutes
- M. Martinez walked, W. Valdez scored, B. Francisco to third, C. Ruiz to second
- J. Rollins singled to shallow center, B. Francisco and C. Ruiz scored, M. Martinez to second
- M. Cleto relieved M. Batista
- S. Victorino walked, M. Martinez to third, J. Rollins to second
- C. Utley singled to left, M. Martinez and J. Rollins scored, S. Victorino to second
- R. Howard singled to center, S. Victorino scored, C. Utley to third
- W. Valdez flied out to right
- End of Inning (9 Runs, 5 Hits, 0 Errors)

Yeah, but he hit that ball a lot harder than the one he got the base hit on.
