It was nice for the Reds to be in 1st for a few days anyway. Lots of ball left to play though. This will be fun all year I think. Reds really should've lost the last 4 instead of the last 2, but the Cubs just didn't want to win, fortunately for Cincinnati. About to see what the Reds are made of on the road coming up: Indiansx3, Philliesx4, Bravesx3. If we can play .500 over the stretch, I'll call it a success.

Yeah, they still have a lot of issues, but it was nice to see some timely hitting and some power. It was especially nice to see Morneau have a good game. Granted, they had Oaklands bullpen for the entire game.

CC Sabathia drills Markakis in the small of the back with 2 out and noone on in the first inning

Set him up with a curveball on the first pitch (to make it seem a little less obvious) and he drilled him in with a 95mph fastball that he had no chance of getting out of the way of... no question about that one. In addition to the beaning last night,the O's manage to hit Cano in the first inning (also probably unintentional, but at some point you have to stop throwing inside if you can't do it without hitting people)

This played out opposite of how things went last year when St. Louis owned the Reds but couldn't beat the lesser teams. The Cards have an easier stretch of schedule with games against the Royals and Padres, so I'm hopeful they can go on a run despite all the injuries.

and then the homeplate umpire gives the Phils a mercy call in his 4th AB.

Yeah that last pitch just caught the corner.... of the opposing batters box! Hate to see that with a shot at 4 HR's (he should get one more AB though)
