Before Cole Hamels last start, his ERA was 3.18. His run support was also exactly 3.18 runs per game.
His record? 10-10.

Buehrle called on 2 balks tonight. Guess which crew? You guessed it - same crew as in Cleveland when it happened. WHAT THE F***!

I wouldn't worry too much. I look at this way - it's unlikely the Twins will play any worse than .500 ball, so let's say they go 11-11 in the final 22 (counting tonight).

If my math is correct, that would mean the White Sox would have to go 18-4 to outright win or 17-5 to force game 163, at Target Field no less.

So yeah, I believe we're done. I'm going to try and enjoy these games I'm going to this week, but unless the Twins are swept by Cleveland and we sweep KC, it'll be kind of hard to get excited.

Good thing the Jays can score runs. Down 6-0 to the Rays after the top of the first inning. It's 8-8 now in the 7th.

Wow. I really thought the Jays would do better than they have this season. Still 72-68 isn't too bad in that division. I'd love to see them win the division instead of the usuals in the east.

They've been very exciting to watch this season. A pretty good 4th place team

I can't remember what the expectations were for the Blue Jays going into the season, but I'd say being above .500 in the year after the Halladay trade is pretty impressive. If they'd only received the production they counted on from Hill and Lind, they'd be something else. As it is, they've had solid years from guys like Buck, Wells and Bautista (2 more HR tonight) which have been a bit of a surprise.

I was driving home when the balks were called - Farmer was livid. Good thing they picked up 3 in the 8th.

Come on Sale, no walks.

I think everyone had us a 4th but certainly not above 500. Yeah if you took Hill and Lind's seasons that had last year when they carried the team offensively and put that with this years we'd really be scary.

Came up a bit short tonight.

Yeah and the problem is it effectively neutralizes Buehrle's ability to pick anyone off. The runners now know he'll be more deliberate, so they can take more chances on first movement, and that's what happened.

So you tell me, are that many crews not calling Buehrle's balks, or is this the only crew that can't read his move properly?

Good comeback win though. You were right Starman - A.J.!
