The fact is that the excuses he gave are just ridiculous. The problem with WWE is that they are writing for 5 year old kids instead of targeting all their audience. The booking and storylines have been repetitive and boring. The only compelling stuff they have done in the past year was bringing Bret Hart back and the NXT angle and both fizzle quickly thanks to stupid story telling. Vince is getting more far from wrestling every single day, which is their main business. Is like if Apple suddenly decided to go and make movies and stopped focusing in technology and innovation. |

Re: WWE/TNA/ROH August Wrestling Thread: Hardcore Justice/ Summer Fest
TNA walking a fine line...
TNA has been, to some, crossing the line lately on the use of ECW in terms of promoting the upcoming Hardcore Justice Pay-Per-View. Among other things, they've used the letters of the WWE-copyrighted company on the air during receent Impact episodes. Now, WWE lead attorney Jerry McDevitt has stated the company's position on the topic. Speaking to Newsday's Alfonso Castillo regarding TNA's promotion of the Hardcore Justice, McDevitt said, "WWE is the sole owner of the ECW marks, and as with all of WWE's intellectual property it will be vigorously protected. TNA acts at its peril if it infringes upon WWE's rights." We could be looking at a cock block of epic proportions here.

Re: WWE/TNA/ROH August Wrestling Thread: Hardcore Justice/ Summer Fest
TNA was pretty good this week. I liked the "impromptu" promo from Jay Lethal as he was eating. The tag match was really, really good. I love the spot with Rood on Storm's shoulders. Nice spot on the apron too.
I liked the interaction with Nash and Hogan, though I am not always the biggest fan of going overboard with the inside stuff like that, but it was pretty good... I have to admit that I marked out a bit with Sandman's appearance. I am sure that them calling him "Sandman" and that video package that closed the show are what has them on WWE's legal radar.

I thought the whole Hogan, Bischoff, and Nash thing was too Russo-esque. Why would calling Sandman by that name cause legal problems? Last I checked he went by that long before coming to WWE.

Re: WWE/TNA/ROH August Wrestling Thread: Hardcore Justice/ Summer Fest
the ECW talk/chants and One Last Stand are what is getting TNA in trouble. They have the whole EV 2.0 name but that caught on like herpes at an abstinence convention

Re: WWE/TNA/ROH August Wrestling Thread: Hardcore Justice/ Summer Fest
When he left ECW for WCW his name was changed from Sandman to Hardcore Hak, I assumed because the "Sandman" character was owned by ECW (like Diesel and Razorm Ramon owned by WWF). Since WWE now owns the assets of ECW (and WCW for that matter) I assumed that meant they own the mark on "Sandman."

According to pwinsider, Jerry Lynn is out of the main even tomorrow after badly injuring his back. They don't know yet who is going to replace him.

Re: WWE/TNA/ROH August Wrestling Thread: Hardcore Justice/ Summer Fest
- Multiple sources within WWE are saying that the company has signed reigning ROH World champ Tyler Black. Indications are that Black will be starting with the company in September. It is believed that he has signed a developmental deal, though that's not confirmed right now.
Black has been the champion since February this year. He has several title defences scheduled between now and September, including one against Roderick Strong on September 11 at the Glory by Honor i-PPV. When contacted about the rumour, ROH owner Cary Silkin had no comment. |

Wow, they took some time building him up too. I hope Strong finally gets the title, though I'm not a huge fan of his new manager.
On a side note, is Davey Richards still retiring, and what happened to Albright? |

Balls Mahoney is going to be at tonight's TNA PPV, but.... he can't use the Balls Mahoney name because WWE owns it!

Re: WWE/TNA/ROH August Wrestling Thread: Hardcore Justice/ Summer Fest
How is TNA going to do this PPV when they can't call 90% of the talent bye there ECW names? This kinda seems like a train wreck bound to happen
