Terps start play tonight. Haven't looked forward this much to a Terps season since they were coming off their amazing 2004 ACC tourney run (and losing to Cuse in the NCAAs). That 04-05 squad was a huge disappointment.

I think they have a very reasonable shot of finishing 3rd in the conference reg season this year. They've got everyone back except for Neal, who admittedly was a key cog last season. Nobody has a more experienced backcourt in the conference, if not country, than the Terps. The real key is how they do on the boards - that was a huge weakness last season.

Looking forward to watching Illinois tonight. They lost Frazier and Meachum in the backcourt, but they have 2 top 50 freshman coming in so talent wise they should be better, they just need experience. If Alex Legion can live up to hype, a big if, they should be able to make it to the 2nd weekend this year.

Well, I wonder how long Coach K is going to stay at Duke. Everybody thought Harrison Barnes was a HUGE Duke lean, but UNC turned up the heat in the last 2 or 3 months and stole him away. Ouch. Duke has Irving for next year, but Barnes would have took them from top 10 to possibly preseason number one.

Me too. A long time fan. I figure this year will be like 03-04 although they may not win the Big 10 but you will see the progressions of the team throughout this season and that will setup for a run next season with the new freshman coming in. Legion is a big key. Last year he really struggled getting involved and looked lost at times. I like DJ and Brandon Paul, those two guys are gonna be like Dee, Deron and Luther by time they leave Illinois in my opinion.

Arizona's season doesn't kick off until Sunday, but I'm looking forward to what should be a very entertaining, and likely rocky, first season under Sean Miller. The team is relying heavily on freshmen (it looks like 5 of them may crack the regular rotation) as well as sophomores (another 2 likely in the rotation) so reaching the tournament would be a big overachievement.

Nic Wise needs to continue to be a leader from the point guard position and PF Jamelle Horne will probably need a breakout season in the range of a 17/8 for this team to be competitive.

Oregon St. lost to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. By 24. So much for being a Pac-10 sleeper.

Wright St. is giving Washington a game as well, down 6 with 4 and a half minutes to go.

Competition wasn't great but still an impressive win for Illinois. Brandon Paul broke Deon Thomas' scoring record for most points by a freshman in their debut. This is their most athletic team since team since the Final 4 team in 05.

It was definitely good to see them push it up and down the floor. Although it was against SIU-Edw but we didn't see much of that last season.

Quite the performance by Arkansas guard Rotnei Clark, 15-21 FG including 13-17 3 pointers, 8-9 FT, 51 points in their blowout win vs. Alcorn State. Granted the competition wasn't tough, but still impressive.

As good as he is, it seems most people around here are happy about it. I mean, OK you are dumb enough to get arrested for shoplifting and then you steal again a few weeks later? (though there are conflicting reports about whether he's expelled or not)

Tubby says this morning his status is unchanged (suspended indefinitely). That could mean the U is just waiting for the proper processes to go through before expelling him though.
