Myers vs. Hamels, and the winner is....

After Cole Hamels made that assinine comment about being too tired and wishing the season was over Brett Myers got in his face and I hear they had a big confrintation. Now today Amaro says that Myers will not be back with the Phillies next season.
But there has been no mention of ancient Jamie Moyer yet.
That's not to say he won't be gone, but I would of dumped Moyer first then dealt with Myers later on. I feel he was let go because of the Hamels confrintation.

Re: Myers vs. Hamels, and the winner is....

I am no Cole Hammels defender, but his words were taken out of context. If you saw the questions given by Leslie Gudel right after Game 3, he was first asked if he wanted to pitch game 7, and he responded, "Yes." Then they asked him about how bad his season personally has gone for him, and he was responding not in the context of wanting the WS to end, but he was saying that he having such an awful season, he couldn't wait for his nightmare season to end. And his pitching performance in Game 3 reflected that.

Secondly, Myers is a free agent, and made 12 million last year. What you sign a pitcher to a long term contract, who is coming off of major hip surgery?

Thirdly, Moyer signed a two year deal last offseason, so the Phillies are stuck with him for 2010. Now they can cut him and eat his contract like they did with Geoff Jenkins, but I think they are going to see if they can find a 5th starter on the free agent market, and if they don't, Moyer will start the season at #5.

Finally, Hammels pitching performance reflects so many young pitchers who won the WS MVP. Remember Brett Saberhagen and Orel Hersheiser?? Dominating pitchers in the '85 and '88 WS, and both had subpar years the following season. Cole says some dumb things, but he is a great talent and only 25 years old.

OK, Your points are well taken. I'd be more upset with Moyer comming back.
I'm not against him at all, but his age is creeping up on him.

Oh, this is about baseball. I had no freaking clue who these people were and thought this was another obscure Wrestling/Fighting Arts thread.

As much as I admire Myers' on field warrior play, he was a wife-beating douchebag. Bye bye.

And it's spelled HAMELS. One M.

Please spell 'Hamels' correctly. It makes me cringe to see it misspelled.

OMG, I spelled Hamels wrong! The Sky is falling! The Sky is falling!

BTW, both of your sentences are a fragments, as you should have said, "Please spell Hamels correctly, as it makes me cringe to see it misspelled."
