WWE/TNA/ROH NOVEMBER Wrestling Discussion (Survivor Series/Turning Point)

Sorry for the late start on this month's wrestling thread. I am in the middle of a move and have no internet currently at the house. I'm not even watching wrestling anymore so...eh, you know....here's the PPV's for November:

TNA Turning Point - November 15, 2009
WWE Survivor Series - November 22, 2009

Hulk Hogan Says He Taught Vince The Business, Running TNA & More (Interview)
By Michael Bluth
Nov 3, 2009 - 4:29:03 PM

Hulk Hogan spoke to Minnesota's City Pages newspaper this week and made some interesting things to say about his relationship with Vince McMahon in the 1980s, how much power he'll have in TNA and what it meant to announce his partnership with TNA at Madison Square Garden. To read the whole interview, visit Citypages.com.

Hogan claims that Vince "didn't really understand the business" after buying the company from from his father, Vince McMahon, Sr. "I moved in next door to him in Connecticut and taught him all about lifting weights and riding motorcycles and partying like a mad man; and then I taught him about the wrestling business and making money," Hogan said. "And now I'm doing that again with TNA Wrestling."

Hogan also talked himself up as the savior for TNA. He said the company agreed that he could have a "Vince McMahon role" calling the shots for TNA. Hogan says he will be "unofficially" running the promotion and will have the same if not more influence than he had during his run in WCW.

"All I told these guys was that they should give me a chance. If they didn't like what I was doing they can tell me to take a hike, but let me have the chance to come in and take a shot at it," Hogan said. "Let the fans and the other wrestlers take a look and decide for themselves what they're in to and I'm confident that I will get this thing rockin'."

Hogan is already crediting himself with generating the most buzz for TNA in its history and explains the significance of announcing his partnership with TNA Wrestling at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

"The proof is already out there. In the course of a few days we've got more buzz going for TNA Wrestling then it's had in seven years. For example, no other wrestling organization had ever been able to get into Madison Square Garden in New York for like, 100 years, because Vince owns it and his family owned it before him. So I came in and was like, 'Watch this.; And we did a press conference at Madison Square Garden."

Sounds a little dilusional and also anyone from MN will laugh when they see who interviewed him since that is a free paper a good free paper but still free and mainly used for local music and restaurant reviews

Can TNA support the massive weight of Hogan's ego?

I'm happy though ... because somewhere Russo is throwing a fit.

If Hogan really brings Bischoff in to help with things then I know the X-Division will improve. Bischoff has admited in the past that a lot of WCW Nitro's early success was because of the crusierweight division.

That statement from Hogan totally contradicts statements he made on Bubba the Love Sponge last week, where he talks about how Vince McMahon taught him a lot about how to market the wrestling business. That man seems to change his story about how things went in WWF on a weekly basis.

Re: WWE/TNA/ROH NOVEMBER Wrestling Discussion (Survivor Series/Turning Point)

On F4W Bryan Alvarez talked about going to a book store where Hogan was doing a signing and heard him talking to different fans getting autographed. He said he asked most, if not every single one of the fans if they watched TNA, and if they didn't he promoted the heck out of it saying they need to start watching. He said that big changes are coming and things are about to pick up. He went on to say that he is also bringing in a number of his friends, and the main name he kept dropping was RVD.

This doesn't technically mean much since Hogan said it, but still, at least he is really starting to mention TNA more and more now.

Hogan's bringing friends? Does that mean we can look forward to the return of Ed "Brutus the Barber Beefcake" Leslie in some form or another?

Re: WWE/TNA/ROH NOVEMBER Wrestling Discussion (Survivor Series/Turning Point)

From the latest Observer:

Quote:
There is talk of those close to Hogan that he’s claiming part of the deal for him coming in is that Impact will go live on Monday nights from 8-10 p.m. starting on January 4th, the first weekend after football season ends. As noted, Brian Diamond of Spike has denied this is the case, saying their goal is to build up Thursdays. Those in TNA who were aware of Hogan coming in ahead of time, were not aware of any change in television time. However, those being pitched to come in by the Hogan side, have been pitched on the idea of the recreation of the Monday Night Wars. While it has not been said, within TNA, the belief is Hogan will come in the first of the year. In theory, such a situation would be the best thing possible for the business. Jeff Jarrett, when he was running TNA, his goal was to get on Mondays from the start.

Nasty Boys vs. Team 3D is a bit of a dream match, but it'd also be a trainwreck.

If you want to see a PPV that clicks on all levels, try to track down a copy of ECW's Heat Wave '98. It's got great in-ring action and its main event is a tag match that manages to tie in a lot of different angles in a way that makes good sense.

Re: WWE/TNA/ROH NOVEMBER Wrestling Discussion (Survivor Series/Turning Point)

Well TNA needs a shakeup. If they keep the X division high on their list, and start using the talent properly which is not always done anywhere, they have a shot to go some place. Maybe Bishoff can return and have a 2nd go at it, and this time he'll be somewhat educated on doing things.

Hell, WCW in 96-99 was pretty damn good.

Did Carter really just open Impact by admiting their show is in the toilet?

I don't think that's what she meant but it sure as hell came off that way. If she was more nervous she would have had piss running down her leg. And to think, that's the edited and best version of the whole speech.

I'm just starting this on DVR, but I'm really getting tired of the AJ/Daniels/Joe threesome soap opera. All three of these guys range from below average to decent on promos, and they're building a feud around them doing dramatic monologues? I've loved TNA recently, but for GOD'S SAKE, PUT THESE DAMN GUYS IN THE RING. This seems like an angle they would need to run for a Nash/Foley/Hogan storyline, not three of their best wrestlers that get can absolutely kill it in the ring.

Is there anywhere to see this video? Sounds amusing.

Re: WWE/TNA/ROH NOVEMBER Wrestling Discussion (Survivor Series/Turning Point)

Here is the video, I don't think she admitted the show was in the toilet, just that changes are coming. I'm not so sure about them airing it on TV, but what the heck, what she said is true so I guess it's not the worst thing in the world to just flat out tell the fans. Besides, it isn't going to cause the current fans to just not watch anymore or anything like that. I'm not sure if anything can do that...

From PWI:

Quote:
The talent meeting that aired during the opening of TNA Impact was legit. TNA filmed TNA President Dixie Carter addressing the wrestlers and inserted it into the show, I am assuming, as a way to build towards Hulk Hogan's debut. The speech and the comments made by Carter were her own and not something scripted for her by the creative team. It was 100% a legitimate speech from the owner of the company to her employees and not something put together as a work specifically for company storylines.

Carter was addressing the fact that the company has made a number of changes in recent weeks, which has led to some frustration on the talent side when it comes to how some are being used creatively. There have been some blow-ups, so I believe this was Carter's way of stamping out the fire.

I honestly didn't take it as an admission of the show's poor quality, just a very utilitarian statement that the company is undergoin major changes, unlike WWE, which just makes them and doesn't feel compelled to outright say it.

Re: WWE/TNA/ROH NOVEMBER Wrestling Discussion (Survivor Series/Turning Point)

Dixie's kind of cute. I think I mentioned before she used to be at TNA Asylum a lot when the brand first started in Nashville, though she did little more than watch the show and let random redneck guys come up and try to flirt with her. She's an Ole Miss/Old Southern Money woman who really has no business trying to run a wrestling company, but I doubt she is as hands on as Vince McMahon.

EDIT: she looked nervous as hell in that video. She obviously doesn't feel comfortable in front of a camera or with public speaking.

Admiting to mistakes is one thing, but part of that segment was her putting the roster on notice for the backstage bull. What business does that have on Impact, much less right after they tried to get fans thinking Hogan is the second coming? It's like they are promoting Hogan as a move to the major leagues for TNA, yet mentioning the talent is upset with him coming in and the direction of the company. She should just pick a direction to go in and dump the talent that she feels is causing problems. Problem solved.

I can't even image how bad some of the young talent in TNA feels at this point. Many of them have been dumped on the last couple years and were just literally told 'tough shit' on national TV.

If anything, I think I saw WCW all over again last night. The kicker was when Scott Steiner mentioned that he's one of the only ones glad Hogan is coming back, and they he would straighten out the young punks and hopefully join the Main Event Mafia.
