Re: WWE/TNA/ROH NOVEMBER Wrestling Discussion (Survivor Series/Turning Point)

I think the deal with Steiner was the first step of setting up that the Hogan in TNA, both character and real person, has learned from the mistakes of the past and he really is coming in to try to improve things.

I don't care what anyone else says, I hope to God I get Ric Flair in TNA as well. Screw it, I loved his retirement and yes it was the perfect way to officially end his career, but I miss the guy on my TV each and every week acting like a nut. I've seen it all my life and I'm not ready to let that go yet.

You really think Scott steiner has learned from WCW mistakes?

Just an interesting story, but my friend and I met Scott Steiner back in 1998. We said hello to him and he gave us the finger and said FU ....

Concerning Shane McMahon leaving WWE, PWI is reporting that Vince and Shane were discussing something in Stamford, they had a disagreement, and it led to a full-fledged argument, which ultimately led to Shane telling Vince that he had had enough of him and was leaving the company.

Okay, we get it. Hogan and Flair will wrestle in Australia. I honestly see this building to both of them having a match in TNA (only on a PPV, as they aren't really capable of doing that many dates).

Actually what I meant was that Hogan and Flair have been working up to both of them showing up in TNA. The video hit within the last week.

That puts Vince's recent comments into perspective then.

Maybe Shane stood up against the weekly shit they've been throwing on tv.

She should just pick a direction to go in and dump the talent that she feels is causing problems. Problem solved.

I can't even image how bad some of the young talent in TNA feels at this point. Many of them have been dumped on the last couple years and were just literally told 'tough shit' on national TV.

If anything, I think I saw WCW all over again last night. The kicker was when Scott Steiner mentioned that he's one of the only ones glad Hogan is coming back, and they he would straighten out the young punks and hopefully join the Main Event Mafia.
Agreed. The big issue is that it was completely unneccessary. Why did TNA need to show us Dixie Carter giving a speech to the roster, obviously about Hogan's arrival? Why? What is the point? Is it Vince Russon trying to be an "insider" about everything? There's no point. Because all it does is pull the curtain open on a business that is predicated on having the curtain closed. As you say, it shows two different direction, and even more confusion on TNA's part. Pick a direction, and then stick with it.

You know, it might actually be interesting if Vince gives total control of WWE to Stephanie . That way we would have two wrestling federations run by women competing against each other. That could actually make for a brutal business showdown if they actively go after each other (only in business, not in the ring, wouldn't want to see that!).

Re: WWE/TNA/ROH NOVEMBER Wrestling Discussion (Survivor Series/Turning Point)

Latest Update:

Quote:
Regarding Vince Russo’s future in TNA, everyone close to the situation is saying that nothing has been decided yet by the company. Russo is under the impression that nothing has changed regarding his status since he feels he’s been doing his job, but there are a number of people who feel his position is in jeopardy. Those same people also feel the Hogan and Bischoff team will establish their own infrastructure and put their own creative people in place, and the duo will be in TNA for the long haul.

If Russo goes, the assumption is that Ed Ferarra will also be out of a job. The only remaining member of the current creative staff would be Matt Conway, who is the youngest member of the staff and is someone Dixie Carter sees as a bright young mind.

Kevin Sullivan has been mentioned as a potential replacement for Vince Russo, as well as Kevin Nash although Nash says he has no interest in the role. Nash is currently working to solidify his acting career for once he finishes wrestling.

Rumors that Hogan and Bischoff negotiated directly with Dixie’s father, Bob Carter, who owns TNA’s parent company Panda Energy, are false. Multiple sources closes to the situation say Dixie was in charge of negotiations, which lasted approximately five months.

- WWE Issued press release today announcing that comedian Dennis Miller will host a special 3-hour edition of WWE RAW on December 14th. The 3-hour broadcast will take place from the American Bank Center in Corpus Christi, TX and will feature the 2009 WWE Slammy Awards. 2009 Slammy Award categories will include: WWE Superstar of the Year, WWE Match of the Year, and WWE Diva of the Year.

- A WWE memo sent out to various pay-per-view providers reveals that the company will be eliminating one of its June pay-per-view events in 2010, bringing the annual total down to 13. While this does seem like a step in the right direction, WWE will be making up for that lost pay-per-view revenue by increasing the suggested retail price of its other events (excluding WrestleMania), by $5.00, to $44.95. According to the memo, this will be the first price increase for non-WrestleMania events since 2006. The suggested retail price for WrestleMania will remain $54.95.
On the PPVs: one step forward, two steps back.

WOW! I didn't realize PPVs were $40 bucks. That is insane. Not to mention, from what I hear, the shows usually aren't excellent. For that kind of money, I want 5 star matches up and down the card, crazy memorable angles, and some more shit every month. I can excuse the price of Wreslemania since that is once a year, and even the Royal Rumble and Summerslam costing a bit more, but the rest of the PPVs should be $20 tops.

I'm going to RAW on the 30th in Baltimore. I'm really excited. I've only ever been to one wrestling event, a house show back in the 98 or so, and that was pretty cool -- but I'm sure the Raw will have a better atmosphere (if not as good a roster). Cross your fingers for me that I get a good guest host.

last non roh show i went to i think was Great American Bash 96 at the arena. Had the infamous "THERE'S A LADY, THERE'S A LADY IN THE MENS BATHROOM" call from the Dream, and had Bischoff getting power bombed through a table by Kevin Nash

Maybe you'll get lucky and that will be the week that David Arquette hosts.

If WWE puts the belt on Arquette, even as a joke for one night, that would still demean the title in a lot eyes.

I think WWE would see dividends if they lowered the non-major PPVs in price, and make the "big four" something special.

Monthly PPVs are the worst thing that came out of the MNW.

You guys are giving me nightmares of when the WWF tried to sell PPV's by giving houses away ....

When they started the IYH ppvs I knew it was going to turn into a bad thing.

Sounds like the WWE is actually doing Survivor Series partially right this year. *faints*

Yeah, Team Morrison vs. Team Miz could really steal the show. Not a bad match on the card. 2006 aside, Survivor Series is always a great show.

The Survivor Series looks likes something I'd actually watch this year. Nice to see three traditional matches.

Re: WWE/TNA/ROH NOVEMBER Wrestling Discussion (Survivor Series/Turning Point)

I'll give some kudos to WWE for developing the Morrison/Miz stuff. I was pretty confused when they first split up, since they went to different brands and couldn't feud. But the way they handled it was a good variation: build each of them up on their separate brands, so that a later feud when they were a bit more established had more meaning to the fans. This is as opposed to a tag team breaking up, immediately feuding, and the winner becoming the bigger star.
