I may be an old foggie here, but I remember back in 1983, the Dodgers were 11-1 against the Phils that year, and EVERY national pundit cited those numbers in predicting the Dodgers over the Phils in the NLCS that year. The Phils won in 4 games that year

Nice baserunning... Victorino even tried the bush league move of trying to create contact to get out of his boneheaded play. Not sure why he wasn't called out as he was several feet on the grass trying to pull that crap.

Did the TBS play by play guy seriously not know that you can't run to first base on a strikeout/pitch in the dirt when there's a runner on first and less than 2 out?

And did Victorino not know it? (Or was he trying to dupe a different ump this time)

to be fare that's a call that doesn't immediately come to mind right when it happens, I didn't hear the tv guy, I have the Phils radio synched up with the tv and Scott Franske didn't have it right away either.
He had Shane going to first too for a couple of seconds before he changed realized what was happening.

btw, not a pitchers duel anymore.

This is the difference between the NL and AL, there is a bit more strategy without the DH.

If Torre was in the AL(like he was for 13 years), and didn't have to worry about the pitcher hitting second the next inning, I think he would have yanked him, but he took his chances and it backfired.

I don't like the DH either.... but since Torre was pinch-hitting Hudson in the next inning and the 2nd baseman made the last out of the previous inning - seems like he easily could have did a double switch. I think Torre just screwed it up and must have missed the 3 wild pitches and countless balls that were missing all over the place.

Wow Torre is just terrible... had he not thought ahead about what he would do if Thome reached base? And why are the umps just sitting there and saying we'll just wait while Joe gets his shit together?
